Redirect to BG&E main page better?

edit

Given all we have is a trailer (sufficient now for saying it exists), would it not be better to have this as a redirect to a section on the main BG&E for the sequel ? That's generally what I do when the amount of information for a sequel game is really small and not sufficient, but easily covered within the main work. --MASEM 19:40, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

No, I don't think so. More information is coming.--MrStalker (talk) 20:04, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Guillemot's statement

edit

Added recent "controversy" and +++ links. I know it's not very encyclopedic, but I believe it to be highly relevant to anyone who is interested in the game and therefore likely to come here searching for information about it. --Anonymous Coward, 20:00, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

That's right, it's not encyclopedic, and this is an encyclopedia. --MrStalker (talk) 22:53, 30 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Platforms - Contradiction

edit

At one point, the article says that Ubisoft has not stated any platform for this game. In the infobox however, it is listed for XBox 360 and PS3. One of these is logically incorrect, and I believe the latter is. - Comartinb (talk) 20:34, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well, no. Ancel has inofficially confirmed that the game is in production for 360 and PS3. Look at the source. --MrStalker (talk) 23:55, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

GA Review

GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

Sorry, but this article does not currently meet criteria for a good article. Unreleased games that are not solidly cancelled or in limbo (ie are undergoing active development) are inherently unstable as new information can come out rapidly and change the entire nature of the article. This is still in early development, I would expect it to double in size by release. Once released and fleshed out, it will be a possible contender for GA, but until such time it cannot pass.

  1. Is it reasonably well written?
    A. Prose quality:
    Existing prose is reasonable
    B. MoS compliance:
Current structure is rather poor, with unnecessarily short subsections that could be merged to create a more presentable structure.
  2. Is it factually accurate and verifiable?
    A. References to sources:
    B. Citation of reliable sources where necessary:
    C. No original research:
The referencing is quite good, keep that up as the game develops
  3. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. Major aspects:
    B. Focused:
The lack of any substantial gameplay, plot or reception information at present frankly blows a rather large hole in the side of this nomination. It is far from comprehensive, especially as sources for these will materialise in due course.
  4. Is it neutral?
    Fair representation without bias:
    No neutrality problems
  5. Is it stable?
    No edit wars, etc:
As the game is unreleased and undergoing active development, significant amounts of information will present themselves later, fleshing out all the major aspects required in a good video game article. Unless development grounds to a halt and the game is cancelled, or the game is released, there are inherent stability issues, even if these are not edit wars.
  6. Does it contain images to illustrate the topic?
    A. Images are copyright tagged, and non-free images have fair use rationales:
    B. Images are provided where possible and appropriate, with suitable captions:
  7. Overall:
    Pass or Fail:
I have little choice but to fail the article. Sorry, but the information in it isn't as substantial as it should be, and it will have a signficiant influx of new information as development progresses. -- Sabre (talk) 23:40, 15 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

... are not involved in the game as you can see in the primary source : [1], [2], [3], [4]. FR —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.243.106.15 (talk) 16:30, 25 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Should not this article be moved to Beyond Good & Evil 2 (video game), or is it in this case not necessary? 212.10.53.58 (talk) 22:33, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Nope. It's only needed when there's something else/another article called "Beyond Good & Evil 2". Rehevkor 23:18, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Precisely, it is called disambiguation. You can read more about it and why some articles has it at WP:DISAMBIG. --MrStalker (talk) 17:23, 29 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Dunno what to make of this for inclusion or not

edit

[5]

IG: Most publishers make decisions based on sales, so what made Ubisoft decide to pursue Beyond Good and Evil again? LD: Well, I didn't say there's definitely going to be another game. I said something had leaked, which means we've been working on some Beyond Good and Evil stuff, but whether there's going to be another game or not, that's something for the future.

Origins

edit

In the seconds picture it says: "A screenshot from a purported leaked trailer showing a woman being pursued through an urban setting in a third-person perspective". I think it would be best to change "woman" into "Jade". You can clrealy see this is her, and not just a random woman. She also looks like Jade from the first trailer. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.173.16.134 (talk) 20:49, 2 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Rayman origins was not developed by 5 people alone.

The designer, two audio, and writer alone are 4 people and that does not include any of the artists, animators etc. There are a whole host of programmers, designers and other people who would be very offended at the thought that only 5 people made the game!

It's a mis quote by eurogamer in the original article. Ancel actually meant that only 5 people were creating the levels using the tools they had developed.

I've updated the article to relect this

Platforms

edit

Just because this game is being 'aimed at' next generation consoles doesn't meant that it's coming to all of them. Wii, 360 and PS3 were not on the same level. It's very likely that the successors to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 will be superior to the Wii U in terms of hardware.

"We asked Blitz Games Studios' design director John Nash the impossible to answer question: is the Wii U more powerful than the current generation? "It's comparable to the current generation and a bit more powerful than that," he replied." - Eurogamer, http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-08-30-how-powerful-is-the-wii-u-really

In the interview where Ancel says that BG&E2 will be on the Eigth Gen consoles, it's also stated that current consoles aren't powerful enough. A console that is "comparable" to them wouldn't be powerful enough either. However, since no specific consoles were mentioned, wouldn't it be best not to make assumptions on which platforms you'll be able to play the game on? 86.159.58.82 (talk) 21:51, 7 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

"In the interview where Ancel says that BG&E2 will be on the Eighth Gen consoles" whether nintendo haters like it or not the wii u is an eighth gen console so when they it'll be on eighth gen consoles we can say it will be on wii u until the developers specifically state otherwise which has not been done. 82.22.61.92 (talk) 10:37, 22 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Rumor heads up

edit

There's a rumor I saw reported by at least Ars Tech and Yahoo News that BG&E2 will have a 12-month exclusivity to the Switch. [6]. The rumors state this will be teased at the first main Switch event on Jan 13 (Jan 12 when it livestreams in the US and Europe). I wouldn't add anything until then, but just watch for any rushed inclusion. --MASEM (t) 00:37, 4 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Glitch with the page

edit

Since no platforms were announced, I got rid of the platforms section in the info box but for some reason, it's still displaying as "Platform(s): PS4 & Xbox One. What gives? Gameman18 (talk) 19:14, 13 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Music Video made by a band claiming their song was originally requested by Ubisoft for soundtrack

edit

The song is called Machi Bhasad (Expect a Riot) by the Indian metal band, Bloodywood and according to their music video for it, Ubisoft didn't care for it. I'm mentioning it here in talk because I'm not comfortable trying to edit the actual wikipedia page.

Video url: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gsy5sJy5_34

From the video itself: "Fun fact: We actually wrote this for Ubisoft- an upcoming Ubisoft game called Beyond Good and Evil 2. And they didn't like it but we liked it so we made a music video..." - Karan Katiyar, Guitarist (https://www.facebook.com/kkatiyar)

From the video description: "Originally created for the upcoming Ubisoft game "Beyond Good and Evil 2", Machi Bhasad is a track with a political message that celebrates the power of a new generation and its potential to be better than the last."

Wasn't sure it was worth posting about, so I figured I'd throw it in the talk section. Feel free to delete this if it isn't worthy of mention on the actual page or even the Talk page.

Seems like they merely pitched their song to Ubisoft and were not asked to write it for the game. Whatever the reason, a primary source is insufficient for such claims to be made in the article. Regards. Lordtobi () 16:22, 23 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

HitRecord?

edit

I sometimes participate in creative efforts on the HitRecord project, and have seen mentions of BGE2 getting artistic crowdsourced help with artistic elements (songs, images, etc.). I am surprised that such collaboration is not mentioned here. 96.127.223.161 (talk) 19:01, 11 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
