Format rules
editAnyone from Canada, can you explain the rules more clearly? From my understanding this series will follow the USA rules but I have no clue who Numéro 1 & 2 is for. I am assuming they are like the HoH and I am changing their colors to match the HoH until a discussion can be had about adding more colors to the templates. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 08:09, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
Response
editI'm not from Canada, but I have been following this season and from what the site says, I know that Numero 1 has some kind of HoH like power. I'm not sure what the signifigance of Numero 2 is but I'll try to find out. Munch60477 11:05, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

Infobox - Numero 2
editI had an idea, what if we use legend3 as Numero 2, this would look like the immunity colour used in most editions. --BigOz22 (talk) 23:14, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
- I tried, but it was taken out... this and other stuff... lovely... Fabzzz (talk) 00:23, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
- How about legend5, the Australian series articles use this for a different thing each season it is need and the USA uses it for the jury. I have no problem for the Canadian edition using legend5. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 00:52, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
- By using "legend5" it keeps "legend3" open in the event of immunity other than the hoh. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 00:58, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
Change web page name
editHey guys,
This isn't really a Canadian show, as it is shown mostly in Quebec. Could we possibly change the name of the entry to Big Brother (Quebec)? It would be more appropriate.
Jandal3c (talk) 17:49, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- I agree with you, should be (Quebec)... but oh well, would they really change it, that's another story! Fabzzz (talk) 21:33, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Big Brother (Quebec TV series) → Big Brother (Canadian TV series) – The English-language Canadian edition of this TV series is at Big Brother Canada. The French-language edition set in Quebec is at Big Brother (Quebec TV series), but that's incorrect disambiguation under WP:NCTV. The rest can be taken care of with hatnotes. If whoever looks at this thinks it's the least bit controversial, please forward this to regular WP:RM. Thanks! --IJBall (contribs • talk) 15:43, 3 November 2018 (UTC)

- @IJBall, BarrelProof, and Frayae: queried move request Anthony Appleyard (talk) 17:09, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
- The suggested target seems to be obviously ambiguous with Big Brother Canada, and ambiguous disambiguation is generally a bad idea. —BarrelProof (talk) 16:12, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
- To me it looks like there are two different language versions of 'Big Brother' in Canada. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 16:50, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
- After some further discussions, I support move to Big Brother (2010 Canadian TV series). Personally, I dislike "double disambiguation" like this in all but rare cases, but this seems to be one of those instances where it may be unavoidable. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 17:25, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
- Agree with BarrelProof and Frayæ. Support IJBall's "Big Brother (2010 Canadian TV series)" proposal. --Gonnym (talk) 17:31, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
- Comment I'm not opposed to moving this article to "Big Brother (2010 Canadian TV series)" but at the same time I see nothing wrong with the current title. I understand the current name is not in accordance with WP:NCTV guidelines but the way I view guidelines on Wikipedia is the same way I view the English language. The English language has a lot of rules but each rule has exceptions. This is a one-off, unique situation we have here and I personally think that a one-off exception could be made to allow this article to keep its current title without establishing a precedent that would change WP:NCTV guidelines in general and would avoid "double disambiguation". However like I said I will ultimately support whatever outcome is reached I just wanted my own personal thoughts known. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 18:04, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
- @Alucard 16: My answer to that is that Big Brother (Quebec TV series) is perfectly fine as a redirect (which will still exist after this move), but we should absolutely not go down the "sub-national disambiguation" road with NCTV as it will end in disaster. I also generally try to avoid "double disambiguation" as much as humanly possible, but there are certain situations, like with Wanted (2016 Australian TV series), where it's unavoidable, and in this situation I'd rather do the "double disambiguation" (along with use of hatnotes), then go down the "sub-national disambiguation" path... --IJBall (contribs • talk) 18:43, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose. The title originally proposed by the nominator is an incomplete disambiguation which does not clearly distinguish itself from Big Brother Canada (in fact, the proposed title already exists as a redirect to Big Brother Canada, not a redirect here) — and since the premiere years aren't very far apart, and people aren't likely to necessarily always know that Big Brother Canada premiered in 2013 rather than 2010, even double-dabbing doesn't really help either. If this series had aired on Ici Radio-Canada Télé or TVA, which have national distribution, then we'd be on the road to hell trying to solve this — but since it aired on V, a channel whose distribution is almost entirely limited to Quebec, the existing title can easily stand alone as a special situation-specific circumstance without comprehensively undermining NCTV across the board. Bearcat (talk) 18:46, 4 November 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose per Bearcat. In cases where distinct shows of the same name are separately aired in Quebec and the Rest of Canada, the salient disambiguator will be if it is in Quebec or not, not what year it aired. This is especially true in this circumstance where the shows aired very close together. I would however support a redirect from Big Brother (2010 Canadian TV series) to the Quebec page though. ---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 19:49, 4 November 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose per Bearcat. I have no problem with sub-national disambiguation where it makes sense. The Big Brother franchise really pushes the limits of our naming convention, so this isn't a unique situation - the Indian variations of Bigg Boss are named for regional dialects. I can easily see where other sub-national or international versions need to use their own designations. This doesn't go against the spirit of NCTV. The current title of this page is the clearest of all the alternatives. -- Netoholic @ 20:35, 4 November 2018 (UTC)
