Revised Biginelli mechanism pathway.
editC.Oliver Kappe is the leader in Biginelli reactions in the chemistry world. He mentions in the paper Recent Advances in the Biginelli Dihydropyrimidine Synthesis. New Tricks from an Old Dog (Kappe, C.O.; Acc. Chem. Res., 2000, 33, 879-888) that the mechanism has been determined as first a condensation between the benzaldehyde and urea, not the benzaldehyde and ethyl acetoacetate as mentioned in 1973. The mechanism proposed in 1973 details a pathway involving a carbnium ion and the revised version does not. Would anyone with further information be able to edit the page accordingly? - I'll look into it.~K 15:34, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
I have now changed it to the correct mechanism.--Gunzgirl85 (talk) 04:23, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
I have now changed it to the correct mechanism, made by someone who has actually read the paper. 134.99.76.227 (talk) 09:49, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
The article https://culturesciences.chimie.ens.fr/thematiques/chimie-organique/catalyse/ecologie-et-chimie-une-combinaison-gagnante-22 propose a special Biginelli reaction with eco-Ni, it may be interessant to add it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:E0A:982:1A00:8074:400A:C230:B2EE (talk) 10:58, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
