File:J._W._“Bill”_Marriott,_Jr.jpg Usage

edit

The previous photo in the infobox was a picture of J.W. Marriott, Sr. I have updated the image to be a photo of Marriott, Jr. The photo came from a press release and was courtesy of Marriott International, Inc. I am a new user and believe the image falls under fair use but if someone else can help verify or further justify that, it would be great. The press release is found here, http://news.byu.edu/archive12-mar-marriott.aspx. DBferal (talk) 17:26, 8 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sorry but non-free images of living people are normally considered unacceptable fair use on Wikipedia (see WP:NFC#UUI), they are assumed to fail WP:NFCC#1 as it is possible to create a free image of the person. The photo could only be used here if the copyright holder was willing to release it under a free licence (see WP:PERMISSION). January (talk) 18:02, 8 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Jwmarriottjr.jpg

File:Jwmarriottjr.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:57, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Personal life section is incomplete

edit

In particular, Mr. Marriott's children's names are not listed, but there is no reference for the contention that he has 4 children and 14 grandchildren. This contention should be removed or a reference given. Privacy concerns are probably not relevant here, as the Mormon Church has a goal of putting the name of every living person on Earth into its geneology database, a project which Mr. Marriott must surely approve of given his high status in the Church. Name

edit

Name should be wither "Bill Marriott" or "J. W. Marriott, Jr." See WP:STAGENAME. ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 20:58, 30 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Photograph is the same as the one used for his father's Wikipedia entry

edit

The photograph used is the same one used for his father's Wikipedia entry. Which one is correct?, and which one is incorrect? Thanks in advance to anybody who knows and can correct this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Betathetapi545 (talkcontribs) 07:46, 1 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
