Too little information

edit

The brief description doesn't mention the book Moneyball, or Beane's impact on the game overall. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Harris Amsterdam (talkcontribs) 21:57, 15 December 2007 (UTC) Billy came out publicly in 1999 on the front page of The New York Times, and subsequently on a nationally televised story with Diane Sawyer. He is the only living former major league baseball player to acknowledge his homosexuality. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.173.24.48 (talk) 21:05, 6 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

You're thinking of Billy Bean, NOT Billy Beane. They're two different people. (Notice the difference in spelling.) Rray (talk) 13:12, 7 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

And Incorrect At That

edit

This page repeats the errors on the Sandy Alderson page (on whose Talk page I have placed comments), namely the timing and cause of the organization's interest in and use of modern analytic techniques. Alderson was interested in analysis techniques from even before he was formally appointed GM. I submitted the team's first annual analysis report to him on 22 September 1982. Alderson and the A's were long since using such techniques by the time Beane became AGM, and it was an extensive (65-page) presentation and explanation of those techniques, commissioned from me by Alderson expressly for Beane's benefit, that was Beane's introduction to what later was dubbed "Moneyball". I will not at this time correct the page, to see if there are any comments here on the matter. Eric Walker (talk) 23:47, 10 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Twin what?

"He has been married twice; he has a daughter from his first marriage, and twins from his current marriage." Are these twins boys or girls?76.112.21.93 (talk) 19:10, 18 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Arsenal or Tottenham?

edit

The page says he's Arsenal supporter but the cited article says he's a Tottenham fan! http://www.thestar.com/article/248165 Atamata (talk) 09:37, 30 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Ever-changing roster

edit

Fans have criticized Beane for the A's ever-changing roster with fan favorites being traded or released, being replaced with no-name youngsters and washed-up former stars. Can someone provide sources for this? AmericanLeMans (talk) 17:57, 8 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

"Superior Mental Focus"

edit

for Lenny Dykstra? Seriously? Maybe it's true, but it's purely "opinion" either way. No matter how well it is attributed, it doesn't help this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.154.72.42 (talk) 16:09, 18 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Baseball assessment comment

Proposed Rating: B-class. The reason: This article covers some good solid detail about Billy Beane's career as a player and then, more importantly, as a manager. It is extremely concise, and naturally someone as controversial as Beane could receive more detail. But at the same time, there are not glaring omissions, unless you wanted more "moneyball" style explanation of his philosophies. Estephan500 09:12, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
