Is this really right? Since when does Pixar adapt foreign films into English? Could this be a simple misunderstanding because John Lasseter from Pixar was involved in the Howl's Moving Castle dub? When billy crystal was on the letterman show the other day, he asked in a roundabout way if letterman was onboard with the pyramid people.... Birth surname

He was apparently born Israel William Krisstalsterne. His parents were also Krisstalsternes, but changed their name to Crystal. Presumably Billy had his name changed at the same time. Do we know when this was? JackofOz 03:31, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

He was born William Crystal. His father was Jack Crystal. I don't know if the family name was that longer version at any point before his birth, but Billy himself was born under "Crystal". Rito Revollto 10:57, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Well, a good hint may be that Crystal does not mention "Krisstalsterne" (nor "Israel" as his first name) in his book bio[1], which goes over his family history a little. Rito Revollto 22:41, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

NY Yankees

Is his 1 day tenure with the Yankees encyclopedic? I see it is already on here. He is batting lead-off andhis penciled as the DH for today's Spring Training game. Seeing no objections, I'll add this into the article after the game when his stats are in. I see it pointless to cite the pre-game article now, just to alter it in a few hours after the game. Yes, his playing baseball professionally is perfectly suitable for a biographical entry. If someone were to attempt to include it in, say, the Yankees article, I can see why there would be debate about its significance. The singer?

I vaguely recall first seeing Billy Crystal as a pop singer, around 1971 or 1972, with a minor hit on a small label (A&M? Scepter?). The next time my family saw him was on Soap, and we all kinda went "Oh, that's what happened to him." Went to locate the record during the Eighties, and no go; the only thing anyone knew about was "You Look Mahvelous!" I've been hoping to get a look in Top Pop or a phonolog from those days, and see if there's any listing... does anyone else remember this? Zephyrad (talk) 23:50, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

The 'Mahvelous!' Album

I saw no mention of his 1985 'Mahvelous' album, so I just added a sentence in the TV section. Maybe there should be a separate section for this along with his stand-up specials on HBO? WillieBlues (talk) 03:44, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

On the profile box, it says he was born in 1948, but in the introduction, it says he was born in 1947 and also lists his age as 47. 03:38, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

the source says: "With his father in the music business, Billy was no stranger to some of the top performers of the time. Legends such as Billie Holiday, Pee Wee Russell, and Eddie Condon regularly stopped by the Crystal household."

Al Minkman

Wasn't the Saturday Night Live character Al Minkman the proprietor of a high quality joke and novelty merchandise company? I seem to remember a 60 Minutes spoof sketch about cheap novelty toys that injured people who used them, but Minkman's made better stuff, and he detailed the quality of his products for the host, (who imitated Mike Wallace) with the tag line "It's a Minkman!" Philantropy?

Do the few and (compared to philantropists) limited actions mentioned under this title really merit their own section? For an actor or otherwise public person, to appear in a favorable way on TV is as much (if not more) getting something as giving something away. Signing your name? Come on. It's really nothing in the context of his entire life, and not very selfless. For most people it's expected you do mostly good, three deeds in the course of a lifetime should not get you a "Philantropy" section in your biography. --84.208.214.73 (talk) 21:12, 30 September 2013 (UTC)
