Author's Intent
editThis article is intended as a replacement for the article: Binary Synchronous Transmission. I have borrowed two sentence fragments from that article. The redirect from "Bisync" should be changed after this article has been wikified.Rdmoore6 20:51, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
- I've picked up some missing bits from Binary Synchronous Transmission and made it redirect here. Guy Harris 02:17, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
Missing material
editExpanding the Applications section would be good. I implemented Bisync support for IPSANET in 1978 and could provide a few examples. Much of my experience is removed from the conventional IBM OS/360 software area so I am unable to comment accurately on IBM SW.
I was unable to find much material on the Transcode alphabet.Rdmoore6 20:51, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
"Correct" acronym format
editThe article included the acronym variously a BiSync, bisync, and Bisync (I've also seen BISYNC). I googled ibm.com and believe the Bisync form is "most correctest" and have changed the article accordingly. Out of the first 20 IBM hits I found ten "Bisync", four "bisync", one "BiSync", and five "BISYNC". The original undated "General Information" manual seems to use only "BSC". Framing
editThe section on "Framing" seemed somewhat incoherent and appeared to contain text merged from various sources including redundancies, etc. I reworked it to some extent based on the Bisync General Info" manual I've cited. It isn't complete, but is hopefully a bit better. Peter Flass (talk) 00:28, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
