Missing songs

edit

Posting the following missing songs for reference. Hopefully will insert them myself once I finish other urgent items in my editing portfolio.

  • B HU U R with Kritiko (2021)
  • Love Yourself (2022)

I have noticed these two songs missing for a long time now, I just don't know why I was thinking twice of adding them. Let me know if anyone is in the process of adding them, to prevent conflicts between edits. AstrooKai (talk) 14:17, 4 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Upon checking these songs, I found that "B HU U R" was released as part of the Born To Win and was never released as a single. The "Love Yourself" on the other hand, is a single released as part of the Coke Studio Fan Fusion EP of Coke Studio Philippines for season 7. The song was a collaboration between two fans (see cited source in the collaborations section of Bini for more info). I'm not sure whether "Love Yourself" can be listed under the singles or the promotional singles. If you have any thoughts about these, feel free to reply here. As far as I’m concerned it wasn’t an ad for Coke in itself so I’d support singles. Borgenland (talk) 16:03, 4 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Added "Love Yourself" to singles, see this edit. If this is a mistake, please let me know. AstrooKai (talk) 16:32, 4 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

New Billboard Philippines charts

edit

In July 3, Billboard Philippines introduced two new charts and discontinued the previous Philippines Songs chart by Billboard. The new charts are the following:

  • Top Philippine Songs - This ranks the top 25 Filipino songs. (This is different from the previous Philippines Songs by Billboard)
  • Philippines Hot 100 - This ranks the top 100 songs in the country, including foreign songs. It was initially introduced back in 2017 but was reintroduced this month.

For those interested, feel free to update the listings in this article to accomodate the latest changes in the charts. AstrooKai (talk) 16:13, 4 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Soundtrack appearances: Lagi

edit

The song, "Lagi", was featured as an OST in the film An Inconvenient Love and the What's Wrong with Secretary Kim series. In the soundtrack appearances table, however, the song's row only aligns with the series as it cannot be aligned with the film and series simultaneously due to table property reasons. Would it be more appropriate to have another row for the song that aligns with the film, use a different approach, or leave it as it is? AstrooKaiTalk 12:23, 15 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Puregold

edit

Does "Nasa Atin ang Panalo" count as a Promotional single? Borgenland (talk) 15:42, 16 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it can be considered a promotional single. While it wasn't distributed through music streaming services, it remains a promotional track for the supermarket chain. The confusion arises because the song was released on YouTube but not on other streaming platforms. But since a single is essentially a standalone track, it can be still considered a single. However, it's important to note that the song may not be eligible for any music charts as it wasn't released on any streaming platforms.
On the other hand, the song has two versions that can be associated with the group's discography:

Salamin, Salamin

edit

Was "Salamin, Salamin" released as a single? Because when I looked at its release date, it was released on the same date as their debut EP, Talaarawan, was released. I checked their discography on Apple Music and Spotify, and the song doesn't appear as a single. AstrooKaiTalk 08:36, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately, in the Philippines, there's not much distinction between whether a song is released as a single or not, since I believe radio singles are not a thing here, nor are physical copies, unlike in the US. Based on the singles criteria, what we can do is base the status on what reliable (preferably music-oriented authoritative) sources, record labels, or artists say. I think we should have a discussion soon so we can establish norms for local releases, if that helps. – Relayed (t • c) 12:01, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your insights on this matter. Indeed, there is not much distinction between different types of song releases.
For the context of the song from reliable music-oriented sources, Billboard Philippines refers to "Salamin, Salamin" as the lead single of the EP:

The highly-anticipated record features the hit tracks "Karera" and "Pantropiko", as well as four new tracks –– including the EP’s lead single "Salamin, Salamin".

While this designation by Billboard Philippines suggests "Salamin, Salamin" was positioned as a significant track on the EP, it doesn't necessarily confirm it as a standalone single in the traditional sense. In the absence of more corroborative sources from other music news outlets, it might be reasonable to consider "Salamin, Salamin" primarily as a prominent release within the EP rather than a standalone single akin to other releases like "Karera" and "Pantropiko".
Given the context of the Philippine music industry, where the distinction between such types of releases isn't always clear-cut, I agree that it would be beneficial to establish a more standardized approach to categorizing local releases. This would provide a clearer framework for discussions like this in the future. AstrooKaiTalk 13:28, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Lead section expansion

edit

Hello, interested editors! I have expanded the lead section of this article. It essentially provides an overview the group's discography timeline, as well as highlighting key milestones of their releases. I may have overlooked some faulty grammars so feel free to copyedit them. If you have any questions, you can also drop them here. Thanks! AstrooKaiTalk 08:15, 30 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
