Merge Biobased product here

edit

Other then a definition by the US in 2002, do these articles really address a different topic? No sense in having two articles with this amount of overlap. Vegaswikian (talk) 07:05, 25 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Merge opposite

edit

I believe it would actually be more appropriate to merge "Bioproducts" into "Biobased Products" as bioproducts is an adapted name to shorten the term. As the proper term is biobased products, this page should be entered into the "Biobased Products" page. 75.145.183.121 (talk) 15:38, 14 September 2010 (UTC) CrystalReply

Agreed

edit

I think these pages should be merged as they essentially cover the same thing, although the Bioproducts page is better written I think Biobased Products is a more widely used term so I think we should go ahead and merge Bioproducts with the Biobased products page.Incrediblehunk (talk) 15:50, 17 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Disagree

edit

I think the Biobased Products page is written strictly following the definition in 2002 and it does not include all of the conventional biobased products which have been around for a long time (more than centuries, long before 2002). The above definition was more politically (not scientifically) motivated and written more to encourage investment and growth in emerging or "new" biobased products (it does not even include all of the new, if you see the biopreferred program) and it completely ignores all of the "old" biobased products. The bioproducts definition and the page on the other hand clearly includes all of the "old" and the "new" biobased products, as it scientifically should. If we need to keep the 2002 definition, let us keep them separate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bioguru1 (talkcontribs) 01:25, 26 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
