The project is divided into three initiatives: the Energy and Environment Initiative, the Energy Innovation Initiative, and the Energy Security Initiative.

The Energy and Environment Initiative convenes working groups of stakeholders to consider a range of legislative and regulatory issues. Key issues include the role of FERC in supporting a clean, reliable electric system, forthcoming U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations, federal clean energy standards, and energy efficiency policies and programs.[1] The Energy Innovation Initiative focuses on the potential for advanced energy technologies to enhance U.S. economic competitiveness and improve energy and environmental security.[2]
