A fact from Bird control spike appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 28 February 2007. The text of the entry was as follows:

I took out the external "sources" from Pigeon-off etc which were clearly advertorial (the FAQs were about ordering product rather than how they work). AvianMaven (talk) 15:42, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- While they look like being advertorial, they're "sources" to the different words used for bird control around the world. I've reverted the edit, especially since the references section and tag was removed as well, taking away everything the article had for citations. New, better citations should be sourced rather than simply removing them and leaving nothing. SEO75 [talk] 00:23, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
I have removed the link to PiCAS since this is as far as I know commercial company who offer bird control services, albeit with an official sounding name and there is no direct relevance to the actual article topic. I have left the RSPB links as they are a non-profit charity who give advice. User:Thunderbuck ram —Preceding comment was added at 14:31, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Who invented them?
editI've been told these were invented by my grandfather, Frederick Siple Burnside - and some patent digging has confirmed that. I think of him whenever I see them.
