Neutrality

edit

I am familiar with the school. The content of the wikipedia page is about as neutral as it can be. Jefferythomas (talk) 21:24, 22 November 2016 (UTC)JTReply

I have removed flags for POV, COI, Advert placed in 2012. I am familiar with the school and if anything the page downplays the history and profile of the school which is one of the oldest private schools in Canada. The page is missing a lot of the history of the school including the role of the cadet corps in the Fenian raids. Jeffery Thomas 16:34, 17 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

School History

edit

There should be an entry for the Cadet Corp's role in the Fenian Raids in 1866. The BCS cadet corps (along with the Upper Canada College Cadet corps) were called to duty and instructed to guard armories and storehouses. I believe there is a story about killing a cow. Other langauges

edit

Can anybody try to make a French or Spanish or German or Chinese version of this page? BCS is nevertheless in Quebec and undoubtedly has a lot of international students. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by OOOOOOOw (talkcontribs) 01:09, 2 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

@OOOOOOOw: This is the English Wikipedia. It is completely separate from the other language versions of the wiki. We only deal with questions about the English Wikipedia here. ThatMontrealIP (talk) 02:36, 2 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Seperate Pages

edit

Hi! I have edited most part of the school wiki page. Yet, As ones has suggest the puffery and other issues. Can we try to make some secondary pages like what Upper Canada College do such as History of Upper Canada College, Architecture of Upper Canada College, etc, reduce the ones on the main page to the essentials and link them back to the main article? There is already a List of Bishop's College School alumni and Faculty Page. Thanks for the help!--OOOOOOOw (talk) 09:46, 8 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

This page is very much overdone. For example, the history section is full of verbatim copies of old school newspapers and the like. This isn't the school's promotional publicity page. Meters (talk) 09:53, 8 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
I'll also point out that for the last 7 months or so this page has been extensively edited by a series of WP:SPAs, several of whom have been warned about copyright violations and asked about possible conflicts of interest. Meters (talk) 10:06, 8 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
In June of this year the list of notable alumni was split from 'Bishop's College School' into the separate article 'List of Bishop's College School alumni'. Later the same month a separate article 'List of Bishop's College School Faculty' was added. Both are linked from the related sections in Bishop's College School. Then on December 6, 2020 a new section listing Notable BCS People was added into this article again. It now lists 114 people. The split off lists have 15 faculty and 105 alumni. Splitting off the lists was helpful. Re-adding another list of the same people was not helpful and it should be removed. Gab4gab (talk) 12:31, 8 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Separate articles for things like 'history of' or 'architecture of' are possible if they are notable topics. Are there multiple independent reliable sources for those? Sources published by the school would not satisfy notability. Gab4gab (talk) 12:36, 8 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
