Ingredients

What are the ingredients? Tonic water usually contains a small amount of sugar; does bitter lemon also? Badagnani 03:30, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Most likely, if only from the lemon juice.78.151.182.240 (talk) 13:46, 14 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

"The sole difference between tonic water and bitter lemon is the addition of the lemon flavour." I'm a bit dubious about this - after all, bitter lemon is usually cloudy and often alarmingly brightly-coloured, whereas tonic water with lemon juice added remains clear. I would also say that bitter lemon has a slightly different (artificial?) flavour to tonic water+lemon juice. Any thoughts? DWaterson (talk) 23:18, 2 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I believe that Bitter Lemon has some extra sugar to balance out the sour qualities of lemon. I have had it very recently, and it is not overly sour, whereas lemon juice with tonic is extremely sour. The Doomsday Machine! (Blastoff!) 15:11, 5 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Anywhere in Canada?

edit

I have bottles of gin I bought in the 1980s which I can't drink because I don't have mixer. Canada Dry eliminated all flavours of pop using lemon juice in Ontario about a decade ago, when the 2L bottle was forced on consumers, pushing out the 750mL returnable. And Canada Dry had phased out bitter lemon long before the bitter end.

Going to Britain or France for a bottle of pop seems a little extravagant. Varlaam (talk) 21:59, 5 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

You might be able to get imported cans/ bottles in small shops. I'm on the West coast, and recently bought cans of Schweppes Dry Lemon, packaged in South Africa, at a small pharmacy. Dicrostonyx —Preceding undated comment added 23:27, 1 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
