About Calaveras's name

Calaveras is said to be named after the mineral calaverite. But is it also possible, especially given her abilities in the manga, that her name is also a reference to a skull? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.163.157.201 (talkcontribs) .

Hmmm. I think what's going on there is that the mineral itself is named for a skull. Does that make sense? Given that the rest of the Sisters are named for some kind of stone (not to mention most of the other villains in the series), it's probably safe to assume that the skull thing is a secondary consideration. --Masamage 05:15, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
True, cause I did read somewhere that Naoko has a fascination with gemstones and minerals. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 07:28, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
I noticed that the dub Avery could be a diminutive of Cal"aver"as... but who knows. ~ Fighter4luv 12:00, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Love?

Hmmm. The Materials Collection says "She manipulates the mental states of humans." --Masamage 06:14, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Name meaning

I have never been able to find the meaning of ayakashi. Is it a combination of words? Is its meaning even known? --Masamage 01:24, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

The subtitles said "Phantom", but the word for phantom is not "Ayakashi" according to my Japanese dictionary. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 02:52, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
Okay... I plugged "あやかしの四姉妹" into AltaVista's Babel Fish and it came up with this: "Four sisters of leash oak". Any comments?? -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 02:55, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
  • I think that's the correct reference. It makes sense considering their roles, though more in the manga than the anime. I have no idea where "Phantom" was derived from for the subtitled release. Rebochan 15:13, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
That's why we don't rely on the subtitles given by the ADV release, especially since they pretty much translated everything by ear. ~ Fighter4luv 12:24, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Koan's personality

After re-watching the first episode of the Black Moon Arc (#060), I remembered how much of an angry person she was in the original version. I'm so glad they toned down her lines as Catzi, 'coz I don't think small children would appreciate hearing her wanting to burn Rabbit-chan to death! ~ Fighter4luv 12:07, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I guess if you're gonna change stuff like that... *shakes fist at DiC for marketing to small children* --Masamage 00:22, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
Bah, the Japanese version marketed to small children too. It's just that Toei was willing to assume that small children would be mature enough to handle someone threatening to kill someone and DiC couldn't even expect them to handle mild slapstick humor. Rebochan 15:12, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Ordering

Just a reminder: manga stuff goes before anime stuff. ^_^ Glad Rebochan is whipping this page into shape. I still haven't seen a single R episode in Japanese. XP --Masamage 15:13, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

  • I'll go back and fix the ordering - I was just fleshing out what was already there and didn't think that it was out of order. It's sad how few people have seen the Japanese Sailormoon R - the ADV release was here and gone and the little of it that was ever fansubbed was back in the VHS era. It's a shame too, it's a good series! Hopefully things will change and people will get another opportunity to see it again. Rebochan 19:55, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
You can always download the complete series via torrents. A few people have made a number of fan-subs with proper translations (without the use of DiC terms like ADV did).~ Fighter4luv 12:27, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Attacks

Dark Water, and Dark Water Full Power belong to Berthier. Dark Fire and [have to find my notes] belong to Kooan.

All of them can use Dark power to take over Crystal Points. Should I include episodes too? ^^;; I have that as well.--Hitsuji Kinno (talk) 07:39, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
