Please change the first sentence in this article from "Black Veil Brides is an american Rock band." to something more appropriate e.g. "Black Veil Brides is a homosexual group of homosexuals who rip off other bands" as the statement currently in place is somebodies opinion who has somehow managed to change the page, leave the immature comment, and then have it semi-protected.

Mistake

Please can someone remove the bit in the article that says Wretched & Divine is their most current album, because this info is out of date.

In the 'Musical style and influences' section change SlipknotSlipknot ([[Slipknot]] → [[Slipknot (band)|Slipknot]]). 68.187.249.27 (talk) 16:35, 26 August 2018 (UTC)

Gothic rock

What stuff of theirs sounds like Fields of the Nephilim, or Sisters of Mercy? JanderVK (talk) 20:59, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

Genres

@DeadDeathrocker: You need to stop removing gothic metal based on your personal opinion. That is not acceptable on Wikipedia. If a genre is supported by sources, it can be included. I'm starting this discussion so we can maybe get other people involved and reach a consensus. If we come to the agreement that maybe gothic metal shouldn't be included and we should just leave it to four genres, then that's fine. I want to see what others think of this. Bowling is life (talk) 13:02, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

@Bowing is life: What's not acceptable on Wikipedia is genuine misinformation, it's not exactly information to "highest possible quality", is it?
This isn't the point, but what you aren't getting is that Black Veil Brides aren't "Gothic metal" by no one's "opinion", they just aren't. I've been a fan of Black Veil Brides for just under 10 years and all their albums are hard rock and metalcore with some loose glam inspiration, especially in their early days; they sound nothing like Type O Negative nor do they sound like Moonspell, so it's genuinely crazy to think they have anything to do with metal in the first place. Metalheads themselves don't even consider BVB metal as metalcore stands for metallica hardcore.
Goth, emo, and punk are all buzzwords to the mainstream media to label any band with extreme/dark attire, but it doesn't make the actual band any of those things. The only sources you have there are two from the same news source (one doesn't even exist anymore), and one 11 year old archived source. Genres themselves are about characteristics, and you're literally using Wikipedia where you can easily look them up yourself.
Not only that, but I'm sure the genre box is for genres they actually are opposed to genres that they have been described as which is where the "Gothic metal" explanation should technically fit - if it needs to be mentioned at all. If we used the genres box for everything bands have described, it would obviously be wholly inaccurate.
The only people who are going to know anything about goth or Gothic metal (as the latter is not considered "goth") are the goths and metalheads themselves, because they're the only ones who understand their own genres. DeadDeathrocker (talk) 14:50, 14 August 2021 (GMT)

@Bowling is Life: Your sources are 2 press blurbs that are basically using goth as an adjective about the band, and neither really speaks as to the music itself. They're not considered metal at all by the Metal Archives, and RYM has them as primarily 'hard rock' with 'glam metal' as one of the sub-genres. Short of having you do some comparative listening to the bands mentioned in the opening paragraphs of the Gothic Metal wiki article or even the List of Gothic Metal Bands article, I don't know how to prove this to you, but musically BvB has no congruence to gothic metal, except that similar adjectives can be used to describe the moods of the music. DoomedCowboy (talk) 14:32, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

@DoomedCowboy: Yeah you do make a good point. Maybe we should just leave it a four genres in the intobox and just leave gothic metal in the article. I'll wait to see if anyone else joins the discussion. Bowling is life (talk) 17:38, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
I agree it isn't the most accurate descriptor. I'd actually query whether it's ever used in reviews of the band's music, or if it's used only in passing mentions like those already cited. Issan Sumisu (talk) 17:53, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

Add a section about the Trinity of Terror Tour, and about Lonny Eagleton's broken leg. YoBoiChill0 (talk) 18:46, 6 May 2022 (UTC)

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 18:54, 6 May 2022 (UTC)

Jinxx also plays cello and keyboard/piano. It’s been documented in many live shows, as well as on multiple albums.

source: The cello can be heard best on Wretched and Divine as well as on The Phantom Tomorrow. Keyboard/piano can be heard throughout both albums as well, and has been seen live many times (example: The Resurrection Tour) 2604:2D80:5E06:7600:ECE6:10CB:A7B0:51D4 (talk) 18:50, 17 June 2022 (UTC)

Not done: Secondary instruments are not listed in the infobox, they're meant to be brought up in the article body per Infobox musical artist - FlightTime (open channel) 18:52, 17 June 2022 (UTC)

Black Veil Brides are not goth rock, nor are they rock with gothic themes

After all that arguing a few months back, I can't believe "gothic rock" has been re-edited into the 'genres' list down the side when we agreed (got the "opinions" of multiple people) that none of their music was "goth" nor "goth rock"?

We came to the compromise that "gothic rock" would be left in the main body, but not in the sidebar as nothing in Black Veil Bride's discography is in fact goth rock. The claim is based on some articles from 10+ years ago that gave a loose descriptor of their aesthetic/fashion, which in their early days, was heavily styled after shock rock and glam rock bands in the first place. So, why? - DeadDeathrocker (talk) 20:46, 5 August 2022 (UTC)

In the Tour section, add The Phantom Tomorrow Tour in 2021. Also add the Trinity of Terror Tour in 2022.

Modification to Intro

I cannot edit this page, but I would change the wording in the intro from "are known for..." to "were initially known for..." because the band no longer uses black makeup, body paint, etc. They gave up that image over a decade ago though it still informs the aesthetic rigor they maintain in the present.
