I would like to get feedback on this article...thank you for reading. I feel that it is necessary to have a wikipedia entry for Black Women Filmmakers because they are so underrepresented. Thank you for you time.

I think this isn't bad as a first start of an article. It is a notable topic which doesn't seem to have been covered in Wikipedia so far. You might want to continue by trying to find more sources (as at the moment, the article heavily relies on one source, the book by Jacqueline Bobo), or by integrating this article more into Wikipedia by linking it to other articles and adding links to it. I added it to Category:Women in film, and added a link from Women's cinema, which is a start; there may be other related articles or categories which could also be linked to it. (We seem to have Category:African American film and Category:Black Canadian film, but not one on black film in general. There is though Category:Black feminism, which may be appropriate.) I think that this article has some good information, however I think there is some more that could be added to better its information. There is a lot of history specifically individuals which date back some time ago. I think it could be interesting to add more black female filmmakers of recent times. I also think this article needs more sections, and not just history. There could be sections on the films that the filmmakers worked on, as well as the feedback they got on those films and if any awards were involved for the film making.Paigehutner (talk) 20:22, 27 February 2018 (UTC)

There are several major issues with the following sentence : "Shows such as Daughters of the Dust, I May Destroy You, and Middle of Nowhere are a few examples of shows that have portrayed issues centered around a community of African-American women"

1- I May Destroy Yoy does NOT portray issues centered around a community of African-American women... its cast is mostly British, not American.

2- Daughters of the Dust and Middle of Nowhere are examples of movies, or feature films, not "shows".

3- Why single out these 3 out of the thousands of movies and shows that portray issues centered around a community of Black women?

I don't know who wrote this but it definitely needs to be edited as it is inaccurate and not encyclopedical — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:E0A:286:55C0:F559:73F2:C0F4:375D (talk) 17:39, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
