Against move: He's literally playing the guitar in his latest music video. He made an entire acoustic album where he played guitar. He toured with Mod Sun a few years ago and played guitar for him. Etcetera etcetera. I can also find recent articles that call him a musician. There is no valid reason to not call him a musician. Singers ARE musicians. He is factually a musician. Singers are musicians. Those who play guitar are musicians. There is absolutely no valid reason not to call him a musician. And as I said, I can find articles that call him a musician. AllMusic of all places is not the be all end all. He literally calls HIMSELF a musician in the August 2022 cover article of Kerrang, "It was interesting for me as a musician because I was learning from these people." Here is another from August 2022, " Like his musician pseudonym title, Florida musician...". And last.fm, "is an American singer-songwriter, musician...". And one more, "touring isn’t a new thing though as the musician dropped out of high school to hit the road with his first band Polaroid." He plays music. He is a musician. The definition of "musician" at WP:SINGERDAB is a "person (...) known for their work in other musical fields, like writing songs or producing music". The source you cited above confirms that (musician) is the correct tag, per the guideline. 162 etc. (talk) 16:54, 2 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
None of those people are comparable to this situation or the person in question. Neither of those 2 singers played any instruments, so it's perfectly valid to categorize them only as singers. Neither of those 2 musicians also sang. Mat Musto sings AND plays guitar, which makes him a musician. It is factually incorrect to continuously insist otherwise. Exactly! "Use "(musician)" when the person is known for their work in other musical fields, like writing songs or producing music for other artists (e.g. Drake (musician))" Mat Musto/blackbear sings, writes songs, produces, and plays music. He is a musician and that article alone should be enough to end this discussion. Alexmarie (talk) 22:30, 2 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
It says "Use '(singer)' when the person solely sings songs or is mostly known for singing songs" -- he is mostly known for singing songs, so if anything it should be moved --FMSky (talk) 08:56, 3 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
He does not solely sing songs and he is also well known for writing songs and producing music. "Musician" is most accurate as per Wikipedia standards. It should not be moved. Alexmarie (talk) 16:21, 4 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
