Dispute

How Come all Nationalist Member Articles are being written from a Pro-Statehood Party point of view? (Spacestoned (talk) 06:34, 28 September 2010 (UTC))Reply

Sources

edit

There has been plenty written about the independence movement. The sources cited in this article are pretty lightweight and need to be improved. Editors should consult academic works.Parkwells (talk) 20:17, 7 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • This article has been built over the past eight years - with contributions, input and sourcing from over fifty editors. On December 7, 2012, an editor who is new to this article, deleted massive portions of the article. Of course, all editors are invited to contribute to Wikipedia. But massive evisceration of a long-standing article, over a period of a few minutes, with no prior discussion or consensus, is not an appropriate way to edit. Please exercise more care in this and other articles. Nelsondenis248 (talk) 00:45, 8 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
Again, my apolgies; am working to correct this.Parkwells (talk) 23:43, 11 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
  • In regard to sources, the Puerto Rican Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation is promulgated and edited by judges, attorneys, and academics with Ph.D's and extensive (and peer-reviewed) publication histories. I provided additional citations today, as well. Nelsondenis248 (talk) 05:29, 10 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
Agree that PR Academy of Jurisprudence is substantive. Thanks for contributing other sources that you know; those are more substantial. Knowing that many editors are working on related articles, I wanted to let you know about having added some content and sources on other articles. Editors had left out that, after the assassination attempt against Truman, he supported the drafting of a constitution and plebiscite on it in Puerto Rico- and that 82% of the people voted in favor of it. I have added content and sources on some other articles, as editors had left out that, in the 1954 Nationalist attacks on the US House of Representatives, five Congressmen were wounded, one seriously, although all survived. Also, as some of the articles survey a long history, I've added in some places the results of the 2012 status referendum, in which a majority (61.1%) voted for admission as a state. It seemed these facts were also pertinent.Parkwells (talk) 23:42, 11 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Lead needs expansion

edit

Editors have complained about my deletions, but reverted changes to the Lead which added content, all from existing content in the article and sourced cites. The Lead is supposed to provide an overview of the article, which I did, by providing more about Canales' upbringing, her work (founding a woman's branch of the party), and the aftermath of the revolt. Why aren't these facts appropriate for the Lead? Parkwells (talk) 23:54, 11 December 2012 (UTC)Parkwells (talk) 20:16, 15 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • Parkwells - I discussed your deletion of content, but I did not trim your lead. You might wish to contact the specific editor. If it was Tony the Marine, you'll find him an exceedingly reasonable (and pleasant!) person. Nelsondenis248 (talk) 08:40, 12 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
Hi, thanks for your suggestion; I may follow up - my comment was meant to be addressed to editors on the page, so that people could know the general discussion.Parkwells (talk) 20:16, 15 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
