Unsourced statemets

hi, is there any source for these statements?

"When the performance estimates of the B-29 Superfortress first started reaching German ears in early 1942, widespread panic broke out. "

"A meeting was called in May at the Messerschmitt factory in Augsburg, and several plans for such Special High Altitude Fighters were hammered out."

Technische Amt

What was the "Technische Amt"? Was this a part of the RLM or a separate body? Drutt (talk) 12:47, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

The Technische Amt was the Technical Office of the Reichsluftfahrtministerium (RLM), as per the existing article in the German Wikipedia; this information is missing from the English version of that wikiarticle. See also one of a series of hits in Google for an english-text description (review in Amazon of the book "Messerschmitt Bf-109 T: The Luftwaffe's Naval Fighter"). Hope this helps. Undercarriage

"The undercarriage retracted inwards into wing wells," HOWEVER picture shows landing gear retracting outwards. Shjacks45 (talk) 04:25, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Well, this depends on the variant as the article clearly explains. The (model) pic in this article doesn't clarify which variant is about. Regards, DPdH (talk) 23:58, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Model Photo?

Isn't this an article about an airplane, and not a model airplane? No disrespect to the contributor, but if that's the case, I don't think it's appropriate to feature a photo of a model in place of a photo or schematic of the actual plane. Of course, given that this article has no in-line references even, the fact that a photo of a model is substituted for a real plane shouldn't be surprising, maybe. I'm going to at least update the photo caption to note that it's a model! lol... joepaT 05:11, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for mentioning this in the photo caption. Real photos are always to be preferred, but if no free photo is available, I add such model photos to provide an idea how the plane looks like. Whenever a real photo gets publicly available, please exchange the model. --JuergenKlueser (talk) 11:21, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Misinformation? (Me-409)

I'm confused. This article "(Redirected from Messerschmitt Me 409)" But Me 609 wiki article "twin-boom adaptations of its Bf 109 line including the Bf 109Z (which joined two Bf 109s) and the Me 409 (which used two Me 209-II aircraft)." The BV 155 article does not even mention the Me 409. See "http://me109.airwar1946.nl/family/me409.htm", "Les Avions Messerschmitt" by Pierre Gaillard Shjacks45 (talk) 14:32, 15 September 2013 (UTC)

There is more updated background to this discussion in the Me 409 redirect Talk Page, for those interested in it. Confusing to me too, seems that the details are quite complex. Regards, DPdH (talk) 02:13, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

Images please?

I've been looking for "free" pics, line drawings, or 3-view diagrams of the different variants mentioned in the article, unsuccessfully. Can anyone please help? Just placed tags asking for images/diagrams. Thanks & regards, DPdH (talk) 00:55, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

This is quite a good, detailed article. Needs references, a picture, and an updated infobox. But otherwise, an excellent article written by someone knowledgable about this obscure aircraft.
