Correct translation for the name of the series

edit

Hi,

I was wondering is the actual translation for "Ao no Exorcist" correct because in Japanese language character "no" expresses possessive quality (among many other things) and because of that I think the name should be "Exorcist of Blue" or "Exorcist's Blue", not "Blue Exorcist". After all Okumura doesn't wear blue clothes, he has no blue skin, or anything like that. He is also not a crybaby and the mood of the series is not "blue" in that sort of way. He (Rin Okumura) possesses quality of having the blue flames which he inherits from his father and that's the reason for the name of the series. Way too often I see that some fansub group "invents" the English name which is either totally wrong or partially wrong. Japanese is not my strong point but I think that it should be mentioned in the article what the correct and accurate translation is if I am right. I just wanted to point this out. Thanks! --Mikitei (talk) 14:46, 23 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Blue Exorcist is the official English-language title as published by Viz this can be verified by the English-language manga along with the video streams from Crunchyroll and Hulu. —Farix (t | c) 15:31, 23 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Just a point; in Japanese, the possessive quality of a sentence can be translated to English depending on the original version's intent. "Exorcist of Blue" is simply another way of saying "Blue Exorcist." In fact, I don't believe that Japanese works the same in English in that, to state an object has a color, it will always be "-object- no -color-", never "-color- -object-". Basically, in this instance, "no" works like "of". In English, "scarlet sand" is the same as "sand of scarlet." WhiteArcticWolf (talk) 15:43, 23 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Reception

edit

I think it would be beneficial to see the reception of younger readers of the manga, from either Japan or any other country, rather than simply from critics and articles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Emma.mullenax (talkcontribs) 01:26, 7 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Characters

edit

Hello, A suggestion that I thought would be helpful for this page would be the addition of a section that specifically talks about the characters and their synopses. The plot only talks about a few of the characters when some of the secondary characters that come into the story later on are very important to the main plot and deserve to be talked about. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Emma.mullenax (talkcontribs) 01:32, 7 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

We have the characters list for that. If the character list isn't notable, then we should merge it to the main article similar to Stop!! Hibari-kun!.Tintor2 (talk) 17:12, 7 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Interview: Blue Exorcist Mangaka Kazue Kato has some pretty good information on the creation of the series that could be used to expand and correct the current section. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 17:25, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
