I restored section Bob Melvin#Personal life --except its repeat use of identical references (Retrieved Jan 4, 2013; Nov 11, 2013), where I introduced short ref names.(net differences) Thus I restored current references 9–15.

Here is the entire section created several hours ago by User:68.175.88.210 without summary.

Well, it's official now

Regardless of whether it falls apart (insert Beltran cough here), I just got the push notification from the official MLB app about the Padres hiring him--141.157.254.24 (talk) 00:12, 29 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

MLB.com's article about the Padres hiring Melvin from 18 minutes ago is an unconfirmed report, not confirmation that it is official. The Padres are hiring Bob Melvin to be their new manager, two sources told MLB.com on Thursday night. Melvin has spent the past 11 seasons as A's manager. The club has not confirmed. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:23, 29 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Well, it's official now. He is a Padre

He is no longer with the A's organization, yet you still have him listed as such. He is a San Diego Padres 68.7.235.139 (talk) 00:35, 29 October 2021 (UTC)Jarmusic268.7.235.139 (talk) 00:35, 29 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Once we have confirmation that such a deal happened, we will note it as such. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:38, 29 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Note: There are already multiple reliable sources stating that the Giants are about to announce Melvin as their new manager (see CBS and ESPN), but since the official announcement will probably be coming out in a few days or even hours, there's no point in using these sources now, as we'll replace them with the newer ones anyway. Ping me again when the announcement has been made and I'll add the information using the newer sources. Liu1126 (talk) 21:15, 24 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Oh, and it's preferable not to use breaking news stories anyway, so we should wait a couple more days before making the update. Liu1126 (talk) 21:18, 24 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Bob Melvin is the new Manager of the San Francisco Giants. This is common knowledge and he is leaving SD. It's only a matter of time before Wikipedia finds out. This website always has old outdated news. It would be nice to have Bob Melvin as the Padres Manager still but He took an interview with the Giants Yesterday and he is gone. Hopefully this website will update this old information as so as possible. Wikipedia is always the last to know.

"Wikipedia is always the last to know" is, in fact, precisely how Wikipedia is designed to operate. No information should be added to WP until it is present in reliable secondary sources, which means by definition it appears here last.
