Robert John Murray → Bob Murray (ice hockey b. 1948) – Move over an existing redirect. The guideline for diambiguating hockey players used to recommend using a middle name rather than year of birth. This was recently changed and middle names are only considered a good option if that middle name is reasonably well known and used reasonably frequently in sources. I think this is a case where the middle name is rarely if ever used and unlikely to be known to our readers. Pichpich (talk) 22:37, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
- To clarify: the relevant guideline (Wikipedia:Naming conventions (ice hockey) was changed following a recent discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ice Hockey (link to the most recent discussion) Pichpich (talk) 13:42, 4 March 2013 (UTC)
