Bobby didn't play on Tattoo You. The saxophonist there was ..... jazz legend Sonny Rollins.

Solo album

edit

He had one solo album, Bobby Keys (Warner Bros. K 46141), released in 1972. Shouldn't the article mention this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.48.246.9 (talk) 23:32, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

When did he really start touring?

edit

"... and was a touring musician from 1956 until his death in 2014." Bobby was 12 years old in 1956 (turned 13 at the end of the year, Dec. 18th). Later we see "Keys started touring at age fifteen". Something doesn't add up.

Surname spelling

edit

Is it "Keys" or "Keyes"? This needs a definitive source, and then an appropriate redirect added. "Bobby Keyes" is credited on several wikipedia articles. Both spellings appear on www.imdb.com

I did some checking, his solo releases are spelt KEYS, though many other sources spell it Keyes. There is also a US guitarist Bobby Keyes. Design 08:11, 21 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Type of sax

edit

This article doesn't mention what type of sax Bobby played. Is it known what he played? 69.139.136.143 02:28, 10 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

re: bobby keys

edit

Most sources I've checked, including V. Bockris's early '90s bio of Keith Richards, spell it "Keys."

Trivia: Bobby Keys and Keith Richards, who shared "a lot" (i.e., heroin addiction) back in the '70s, were also born the same day: Dec. 18, 1943. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Maccb (talkcontribs) 02:50, 16 January 2007 (UTC).Reply

Drug Use

edit

Bobby Keys, like Keith Richards, had a heavy addiction to heroin in the 1970s. I think this should be mentioned in the article. Wikipediarules2221 19:20, 25 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

"Kenny Keys ~ No DNA needed !"

edit

Sometime in the early 2002s to 2003s a heavy metal band was headlining at "The Fox" on the hill in Boulder { Colorado } a hot spot for the CU music scene.

Kenny Keys was the featured singer. I just had to meet this kid so after the show I made it a point to go see the obvious son of Bobby.

I was a little surprised at the situations it unraveled in the conversation as he obviously was not 100% sure that his dad was Bobby.

I invited him up to the apartment we had above the Sorority house at the time to show him a poster which had a picture of his dad close up.

He said he had planned a trip to meet him and maybe even have a DNA test. I took a second look at this kid, as if it was necessary because he was

so much the spitting image of his dad it was spooky.

I have noticed in a few places that his children in Tennessee were mentioned by name but no mention of Kenny. Oh well …none of my Beezwax..maybe he used a different name.

But if not…somewhere out there is a digital copy of the Sax man himself living west of the Mississippi.

Hope this revelation only has positive results. Families are usually private stuff however sometimes there comes a shy child who needs a little push.

Maybe this is the case…maybe not.

Bobby Keys was one of there freindliest un pretentious musicians I ever met… But I may be the only person ever to visit Keith's house and remain asleep in the car... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.190.6.23 (talk) 08:08, 2 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Return to Sender

edit

Why does the article say that Keys "reportedly" played sax on Return to Sender (song) by Elvis Presley? There's no doubt that Boots Randolph is the saxophone player there. And it doesn't look like the source given for the statement (note 8) mentions Keys on it either. MackyBeth (talk) 13:53, 29 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
