Friend, I believe you when you say all this. However, the Bobby Lewis that the article is referring to is a black man. Your cousin's best friend may have sung "Tossin' and Turnin'" in concert and may have even recorded a version of it, but the Bobby Lewis that's being referred to in the Wikipedia article is the one who was from Indianapolis, Indiana and had a #1 Billboard charts hit with the song.
