British Airways
editThe article says "British Airways has preserved five of its 747-400's following the fleet's retirement during the COVID-19 pandemic, although only four now remain". It then lists 4 preserved air frames but mentions the first one is (was?) scrapped. Does that man only 3 survive? Or that there is one missing from the detailed list and that 4 really survive (3 listed frames plus the unlisted frame) ? Stepho talk 05:58, 23 October 2023 (UTC)
- I took some time to look into this. The only other British Airways 474-400 that I could find that was preserved, is the G-BYGA that was partically preserved and converted into an event space and flight simulator known as 'The Deck'. - G-BYGA was scrapped for parts in 2022. The only three BA 747-400s that are still preserved are as follows:

- G-BNLY

New Image

We've been changing and reverting the lead image a lot in the last few days. I don't see that any are particularly better or worse than any other. Can we knock it off with the pissing contest and leave the damn things alone? Stepho talk 16:18, 1 June 2024 (UTC)

New Image

- In the 1990s when I was living in Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific were so proud of their new, bold, artistic, modern, brushstroke livery. Then Wunula Dreaming landed the next day - making the newspapers and totally blowing the wind out of their sails.
- As much as I want to wave the Australian flag, the purpose of the lead image is to show the shape of the aircraft. Unfortunately, the Wunula dreaming paint job is so in-your-face that it distracts the reader from the shape of the aircraft. However, I would definitely agree to adding it as an extra image in the article. Stepho talk 23:02, 21 June 2024 (UTC)

You told to add the Wunala Dreaming as an extra image, and so I did, but you changed it. There is no image gallery in this article, and you are telling me to add the image in an image gallery. Which image gallery did you mean? Please make it clear. BuddyHeigh (talk) 17:52, 8 July 2024 (UTC)

New Infobox Image(Boeing 747-400M)
editDoes anyone want this new Air India(formerly Air Canada, currently Dubai Royal Air Wing) Boeing 747-400M image, does someone also realize that the existing Air China image shows only the back of the aircraft, not the front, but this new Air India shows the whole aircraft in detail. - I don't know how much you notice the cargo loading/unloading door, but if you zoom behind the flaps behind the right engine of the right wing, you notice the cargo loading/unloading door. Flying AviaSome (talk) 09:38, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
- I changed your image to a thumbnail. And here is a thumbnail of the existing Air China image.
- The Air India is a generally fine image. However, even after you told us where to look I cannot see, the cargo door. I doubt if a reader could see that without instructions.
- I like the Air China image because it is from the rear. Almost every other image in the article is from the front. And the Air China image shows the rear door very clearly. Stepho talk 23:36, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

- Oops, sorry for the delay, I got distracted.
- I can now see the top hinge line of the cargo door - although the side and bottom edges still elude me. However, I still prefer the Air China image. The Air China door is far more obvious to the casual reader. And the image from the rear is more interesting in an article with many front and side images. Stepho talk 10:03, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
