Egg Boiling Pans

edit

Is it necessary to have a special pan for boiling eggs - that is, does boiling eggs in pans used for other food somehow taint the pan and make it unsuitable for other foods? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.172.4.44 (talk) 00:25, 19 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've never heard of someone using a separate pot for boiling eggs. I suppose if you live on a farm and gather the eggs yourself they might be dirty on the outside, but washing the shells before boiling them and washing the pot afterward would be plenty. Most germs are killed by boiling, anyway. 138.89.122.55 04:31, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
It's interesting to consider.. How much calcium comes out of the shells while boiling? I bet if you used the same pan over and over and never washed it (thinking "well all I did was boil water in them") you might notice a buildup of lime. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.72.21.221 (talk) 01:23, 25 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Some religious Jews that keep kosher have a separate egg pot. 57.135.233.22 (talk) 00:37, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Singaporean soft boiled eggs

edit

In addition, add this line after the last sentence in the Dishes featuring boiled eggs: In Singapore, soft boiled eggs are served with kaya toast for breakfast.[1] FarhanEditWiki017 (talk) 03:07, 17 March 2022 (UTC) Note: This edit is part of a GSOC 2022 Microtask. Reply

soft boiled egg

edit

Why does the paragraph not start with a normal way of cooking a soft boiled egg? This complex way explained at the start is unlikely to be interesting to anyone but chefs or eggheads. Also, I am assuming you will get wildly varying results depending on the heat source with this method.

Caption on ramen picture

edit

A bowl of ramen topped with a seasoned boiled egg. (Note the darkened exterior of the egg).

What is the reader supposed to take note of regarding the darkened exterior? This isn't explained in the article or in the caption. 57.135.233.22 (talk) 06:01, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Marinating in soy sauce is what causes the darkened exterior. Said darkened exterior is barely visible in the image though and not particularly useful to a reader who is interested in boiled eggs. Reconrabbit 13:36, 20 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
