Question
editI am looking for some statistics about Telemarketing.
E.g., a friend of mine should make phone calls and invite prospectives to an introduction seminar. What percentage can you expect to say they are interested in a seminar and how many will than show up really. Sure it is a question of the seminar topic.
Inaccurate description of stock boiler room?
edit"The boiler room starts the process off as a bridge loan"
This is describing the plot of the Boiler Room (Film) and presenting one particular scam as descriptive of all "boiler room" scams. Most boiler room stock scams are just pump and dump on low volume, low value stocks, not this IPO related stuff.

Yes this posting is an inaccurate description. The term "Boiler Room" refers to a busy high pressure sales environment often done on the phone. It is not unique to the stock market but is unique to sales. To describe it as telemarketing is also inaccurate. Sales done over the phone as opposed to meeting in person (outside sales) is considered inside sales. Telemarketing refers to operators calling long lists of people at home, but a professional sales job done amongst businesses over the phone is inside sales.
WHERE THE HELL DO SOURCES SAY THAT "For example, many boiler rooms contacting prospective investors in the UK will operate from Spanish cities such as Barcelona and Valencia." ?????? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.129.56.78 (talk) 23:24, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

This article does seem a little too focused on the stock broker boiler room stereotype. It's true that boiler rooms are often selling investments of some kind but that is not universally true and certainly isn't limited to stocks. People selling investment real estate properties would be another example. Plenty of people are employed in business-to-business inside sales cold-calling jobs, though, in true boiler room environments. This article seems to be mostly informed by movie portrayals of stock brokers. --Scardinoz (talk) 22:03, 3 April 2017 (UTC)
