Reads like a brochure
editArticle reads like a brochure. No citations. Also Earle Reed's founding has been questioned. Correction will remain locked until citation is given.
Wikepedia is for knowledge dissemination not advertising with links to all the sub-races etc and all the other sponsors. What are you people running a race or not for profit promotional vehicle?
Also revised numerous uncited claims.
Updated
editTried to clean up a lot of the fluff in the article. Will update heading once I become authorized to upload images. Decided the entry didn't warrant a lengthy description of the course and festivities, especially when compared to other Wikipedia entries for similarly sized races. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tm16scud (talk • contribs) 16:04, 8 June 2011 (UTC) It seems after reading this that this race is run by people who play very fast and loose with the facts. It is like an advertisement and full of pep words and lots of other ridiculous garbage. Amateur hour directors or editors here. Watching and will be locking it down if they keep pretending they are the biggest. Nobody likes braggarts who lie. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CutThruTheNoise (talk • contribs) 10:34, 11 September 2013 (UTC)
Serious prob;ems with f actuality and puff
editRemoved from first para: "When the NEXT race will begin". As others have noted this is not your brochure please keep within the scope of WP rules.
Removed HUGE slab of "how quick they sold out of tickets" list of three years from 1st para. WTF with this adspeak here?
ALSO removed insignificant claims of once being the "biggest 15k" in the universe when there's maybe three 15Ks in the whole US. We know you want to sound "exclusive".... so find something that is actually exclusive.
Removed notation about their "History of Boilermaker" book adspeak from 3rd para.
Also this article is sourced from only their website and their local paper the Utica Observer Dispatch which isn't much of a paper it is more a a regurgitator for local pols and the attention starved founders of limited appeal events like this.
These kinds of wacky, grandiose self-pomoting articles are common in upstate around Urtica as has been noted by some WP admins on the TALK at their page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 32.143.73.3 (talk) 08:27, 21 March 2015 (UTC)
