Coffee, tea or Bonox

edit

This suggests that the claim that it was ‘common to ask “Coffee, Tea or Bonox” when offering guests a drink’ was an advertising line, not fact.--Grahame (talk) 01:15, 26 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

It was more than an advertising line. People did ask if you wanted Coffee, tea or Bonox, but more as a joke than serious. So the claim is NOT dubious. Newtaste (talk) 08:23, 4 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

You are correct Newtaste ; It was definitely an ad and the Coffee tea or Bonox phrase was a well used saying after WW2; When I first toured an Abbatoir in Rockhampton in 1951, I watched the animals go through the complete process and at the extreme end of the line was a small section producing pure animal protein from the blood etc , which, the slaughterers told me, was for making Bonox !!.
Whether this was true or not is ???? I notice now that Bonox producers mark the bottle as being made from Yeast !!!! 2406:3400:41A:C130:C16B:CBA6:D5AE:4240 (talk) 04:19, 12 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

It was certainly common when I was young (1970s & 1980s) to offer "coffee, tea or bonox?", but almost exclusively in jest. I don't ever recall seeing it in advertising. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.14.41.149 (talk) 22:44, 17 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

I concur with the previous comment; I have fond memories of an aunt asking the same when I was young, in the early 1990s, but never entirely seriously. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.44.50.24 (talk) 15:17, 9 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Clarify with "in jest", then? --Dwchin (talk) 22:26, 4 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

The link on page no longer works. I don't find Bonox listed at Kraft for USA products. I do find it in Australia, so maybe that should be noted. by Herb Ox —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.179.94.32 (talk) 17:32, 8 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
