Bo Diddley age source
editMurray, the current source used in the article, writes of Bo Diddley "encountering 'Boogie Chillen' a few months shy of his twelfth birthday". [p. 134] However, "twelfth" appears to be a typo: BD was born December 30, 1928, so it probably should read "twentieth", making him 19 in November 1948 when "Boogie Chillen'" was released. But I agree with Ghmyrtle's change to "young" so as not to conflict with the source used or have a potential OR issue. —Ojorojo (talk) 15:02, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
- I can't recall whether or not Bo Diddley, or his publicists, claimed at any point that he was a few years younger than he actually was. That would have been normal practice in the mid-50s. So, the "aged 12" claim may be related to a claim that he had been born in, say, 1936. Just a hypothesis. Ghmyrtle (talk) 17:53, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
- That was my first reaction, but I then thought Charles Shaar Murray must be more astute. Then again, ...? —Ojorojo (talk) 18:59, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
