Why was I re-directed to the peniks pum this page with the search term "numbers"? I am interested in science, not religion. --OmegaMan

Balaam
The source regarding Balaam and a late dating of the book of Numbers cannot be used to say that "The composition of Numbers 22-24 can be dated with reasonable certainty to c.840-760 BC on the basis of the Deir Alla text". It is ok to proffer the Deir Alla as an OPTION for dating, but I think we would be better served by a general overview of the alternative positions on dating the book - traditional and documentary hypothesis as well as deir alla. I will make an edit to this effect shortly. A.J.Chesswas 08:36, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
