Boris Alexandrovich Eflov (Yeflov) (born December 31, 1926, Selishche village, Borisoglebsky district, Yaroslavl Oblast – died March 17, 2013, Kostroma; Russian: Бори́с Алекса́ндрович Ефло́в) - Soviet and Russian painter, graphic artist, and master of rural landscape.

Family

The painter was born on December 31, 1926 in Selishche village, Borisoglebsky District, Yaroslavl Oblast, next to which the military unit of his father was located. Father - Eflov Alexander Grigorievich, regular officer, mother - Kolchina Klavdiya Vasilyevna come from a merchant-peasant family. Boris was left without a father early, who was repressed, shot in 1938 and subsequently rehabilitated posthumously. In view of this, the family is forced to move to friends in Kostroma. As a child, Boris was fascinated by drawing, copying various classic works of famous painters. Due to the hardest financial situation of the family at the turn of seventeen, he volunteered to join the army.

In the army

After a short training, he was sent to the operating units of the Black Sea Fleet. He served first on the Krasnyi Krym guards cruiser, then before demobilization as the head gun commander, he served on the destroyer Ognevoi. During the infrequent layoffs he attended drawing courses at the art studio of Sevastopol City. The preserved drawings of that time were exhibited at thematic exhibitions.

In Kostroma

Returning to the family, in 1951 he worked in the Kostroma puppet theater as a painter-decorator. He married Anisimova (Eflova) Valentina Alexandrovna in 1952, in which they had two sons - Vladimir (1955) and Alexander (1959). From 1953 to 1958 he studied at the Kostroma Art School. Further, before retirement, he worked in the workshops of the Art Fund of the Russian Federation. Since 1957, he had been the participant of numerous exhibitions, most of which are personal. He died on March 17, 2013 at the age of 86 in Kostroma. Boris Eflov was buried in the Ilinskoe village, Kostroma district of the Kostroma Oblast.
