Fair use rationale for Image:Boston Minutemen.gif
editImage:Boston Minutemen.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:50, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: not moved. Feel free to add hatnotes as desired. -- BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 13:52, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
Boston Minutemen → Boston Minutemen (soccer) – The primary topic of "Boston Minutemen" are the Minutemen from/in Boston during the Revolutionary War, not this soccer team. Therefore "Boston Minutemen" should redirect to Minutemen. 70.50.151.11 (talk) 05:07, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

- Mild support - I was all set to immediately support on WP:CAPS, but looking at Google books suggests "Boston minutemen" is a rare phrase in Revolutionary War context and not capitalized. But then this soccer team only ran 1974-1976 and the term in 2002 refers to "Massachusetts's largest Boy Scout council, the Boston Minutemen, took another stand for nondiscrimination June 10" ... raising a different reason for adding (soccer) to distinguish from http://www.bsaboston.org/ .. so support, but more because of the clash with the Boy Scouts of America membership controversies article content than because of the WP:CAPS issue. - But if moved leave redirecting to (soccer), since too many incoming links to make creating an intervening dab worthwhile In ictu oculi (talk) 09:13, 28 February 2014 (UTC)
- It should be an easy fix, since this article appears on a template that appears on many pages. The move should not have a problem with fixing incoming links. Just fixing the template should do most of the corrections. -- 70.50.151.11 (talk) 00:48, 1 March 2014 (UTC)

- Oppose. Boston minutemen isn't a term used to describe the Revolutionary War soldiers. They were known simply as minutemen. Hot Stop 19:41, 28 February 2014 (UTC)
- How would you distinguish the minutemen from outside of Boston to those in Boston? Would you not use "Boston" as an adjective? -- 70.50.151.11 (talk) 00:46, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter where they're from, they're still minutemen. Hot Stop 02:54, 1 March 2014 (UTC)

- Mild oppose - It seems to me that this is a reasonably unlikely possible phrase to type in when looking for Minutemen. Hatnotes should be sufficient. Red Slash 17:03, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose There's no reason to move it from here, as the name that it is at right now is not all that big in Massachusetts vernacular, so it's not really confusing anyone right now. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 21:05, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
Discussion
edit- Any additional comments:
- Suggestion Regardless of the move decision, a hatnote to Minutemen plus disambiguation seems to be needed.
