editOkay...I'm sure that I'm tangling this up. I'll try to get it straight. Dhofar is a province, Salalah is a town, and Kohr Rori is a harbor...in Dhofar, near Salalah? Bochica 20:58, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- I believe that I've answered my previous question. I separated Salalah and Khor Rori since they are 40 kilometers apart (not miles, as my note said).Bochica 16:44, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
More info...
editI realize this might sound POV, but shouldn't we include reference to the ridicule the Book of Mormon's description has received over the years, the existence of a place like Bountiful was ridiculous until the (relatively) recent discoveries of these three sites. This was one of those basic "talking points" against the church until recently. gdavies 06:57, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- I actually do want to add criticism of Bountiful, but so far I haven't found much worth including. I am aware of some older criticism (made by the Tanners I believe) which states that it would have been easy for JS to assume a fertile area on the coast, but it turns out that the references they use are referring to fertile areas on the Red Sea, not the Dhofar coast. I'll try to locate that one again. Other than that, there doesn't seem to be much out there. I'll check Vogel again when I get the chance...he had some stuff on Nahom, maybe he mentions Bountiful... Bochica 04:12, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe so... I haven't seen any serious current criticism, but for some reason I seem to remember someone making the statement that (boy that's a terrible way to start a sentence) early critics used the mentioning of Bountiful to criticize the church, but they since these three locations have been found... gdavies 22:36, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Thomas D. S. Key has conceded that the apologist proposed location is the most likely candidate "“While this oasis would admittedly be the most likely candidate” http://home.comcast.net/~drkey/BOM-LightofScience.pdf page 22. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mormography (talk • contribs) 09:02, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
Alternate New World Setting
editThere is more than one proposed New World setting for the Book of Mormon. I have added references and a second map of proposed Book of Mormon lands. Kovesh (talk) 21:07, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
Let it be understood that D&C 128:20 (cited at the end of the article) does not specifically mention the Hill Cumorah. It mentions "Cumorah". "Cumorah" is not just a hill it is a land, in "a land of many waters, rivers, and fountains" (Mormon 6:4) The point is that many LDS see the "Cumorah" in the Finger Lakes region (D&C 128:20) as fitting the "land of many waters..." (Mormon 6:4) I have amended the recent inference to the “hill Cumorah”. Kovesh (talk) 21:16, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

Child sex slaves
editWhy is there no mention of the sex slaves traded between the two towns of Bountiful? Both cities have had their leaders incarcerated, and many more received prison sentences for it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.228.254.236 (talk) 09:03, 22 February 2017 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what the above comment is referring two, but "the two towns of Bountiful" does not sound at all related to this article. Carl.antuar (talk) 13:13, 31 May 2019 (UTC)
