The reference to England is not very clear as it then goes on to say it's British English. Don't they use the term in Scotland, Wales and Ireland?

A general search on the Internet shows that the term Bowser has been in use to describe a water container prior to July 2007!

ps: I live in Gloucestershire and am currently getting my water from a Bowser (even though I didn't know what they were called prior to this) !!

I think it needs to be a bit clearer in terms of a bowser being the trailer part of the tanker in Britain or a very small tanker. Where as a tanker is a large goods vehicle (lorry/truck) with an attached tank or the tractor and trailer unit combined. 2A00:23C8:A6C7:8101:68E8:320:E1E7:8CC2 (talk) 18:34, 1 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Bowser (aviation) needs to be merged here, I think. Cruftbane 10:11, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
