Why is his name changed to Borissov? It is Борисов, which transliterates in English to Borisov. He is known everywhere in English as Borisov, and he was always called Borisov on Wikipedia. Why the change? Am I missing something? Scoutguy5427 (talk) 00:52, 2 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Agree, I don't get it. --Norden1990 (talk) 09:04, 10 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
It has to be Borisov not the current Borissov. The Bulgarian spelling Борисов transliterates in English to Borisov. Deolidonuts (talk) 00:29, 12 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
Yes, you are missing a lot. That's why you should not poke your nose into areas that don't concern you or that you are not aware of. This is not a page which can be edited by whoever comes accross at it or people who are not informed enough. This is one of the most influential people in Bulgaria. His name is officialy wirtten this way in his official documents - ID, passport and so on. Trying to convince foreigners or malevolent Bulgarians who are editting here is exhausting, so just see his official verified social media accounts and website. Thank you very much!!!--Nneeppttuunn (talk) 14:50, 1 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
(Moved from talk page on Boyko Borissov): What I am sure of is that the move to Borissov was not an uncontroversial one. The issue should have been discussed here prior to the move. Also, please refrain from personal attacks. --Laveol T 16:11, 1 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
Although I'm someone who has just come across this page, I feel Wikipedia articles should be consistent. Currently 'Borissov' appears once in the article, but rather than replacing that instance with the single 's' variant, I'm inclined to say the spelling should follow the official one from his documents and social media, meaning it should be 'Borissov'. As is, the Google Search snippet (or so-called 'knowledge panel') is showing the 'ss' variant, while a few lines down you can see the 's' variant, so something should be done, and I don't have to stress the importance of consistency. Added text from the conspiracy newspaper bivol.bg is questionable and not accepted in the Bulgarian version

edit

The last couple of edits where a user rightfully tried to remove text that is of questionable character should be returned. Bivol is widely considered a conspiracy media in Bulgaria much like Alex Jones in the USA.

Do you have a source which states this? Jim1138 (talk) 09:33, 20 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Yes here is one, http://www.monitor.bg/a/view/42947-%D0%91%D0%B8%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%BB-%D0%B2-%D0%BA%D0%BE%D0%BC%D0%B1%D0%B8%D0%BD%D0%B0-%D1%81%D1%8A%D1%81-%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B4%D0%B0%D0%BB%D0%BD%D0%B8-%D1%81%D1%82%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B8%D1%82%D0%B5%D0%BB%D0%B8/

They pressure high profile companies and people to work with their own PR firm, and it's an outlet only run by 2 journalists — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brigadabg (talkcontribs) 09:42, 20 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Responding to the talk page does not give you the right to continually revert. and edit war. Can you at least wait until Jim responds before making any more edits? Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 10:17, 20 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Yes no problem, you can also check that Monitor is a reputable Bulgarian paper, the domain registered in 1998/1999 while Bivol is registered in 2009/2010 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brigadabg (talkcontribs) 10:22, 20 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • @Quickfingers: no real media would write such a thing, it's obvious that they are defaming Bulgaria as a whole "According to Bivol, "Such has been the approach to the Israeli businessmen, who brave and naive enough to invest in Bulgaria, [were] unaware of the warm connections between the mafia and the judiciary."" --Brigadabg (talk) 11:49, 14 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Brigadabg and Boomer Vial: Interesting links:
Assen Yordanov seems quite credible to me. Opinions? Jim1138 (talk) 10:54, 20 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Agreed, it seems credible. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 10:56, 20 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

They have been doing some credible reporting through the times, that's why they got recognized by other foreign media outlets, as they are working in the corruption field. The problem is that they are mixing articles of real corruption with articles that are in large part purely made up, in the form of 20-70% real credible journalism, with 80-30% of stuff that is made up. This is the reason why other media outlets lately, like monitor, which was a great supporter of some of the corruption articles of bivol themselves, have started to turn against them, as they are realising that they are writing tainted articles. And no other papers are citing them as sources, as they did in the first couple of years, where they did some serious corruption cases. If you look at the text that i am trying to remove, you can also see the way it's written, that it is probably themselves that have added it. The paper bivol has a longstanding war with Boiko, alot of their articles is about him over the last couple of years, it's mainly become an anti-Boiko paper. Personally i dont like Boiko either, and i wish he were removed from politics as a whole, but the way to do it, is not by posting this kind of tainted news on wikipedia. So im happy with all the criticism here about him, but just as long as it doesn't come from Bivol. And i would love for other papers to expose him more, but they are not taking any of Bivols storys anymore. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brigadabg (talkcontribs) 11:06, 20 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

And Boomer Vial didn't even read the articles, he answered you in 2 minutes, shorter than it would take, to actually read them — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brigadabg (talkcontribs) 11:13, 20 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

And they are themselves part of OCCRP, as the only Bulgarian member, so they have themselves written the article from OCCRP https://www.occrp.org/en/members — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brigadabg (talkcontribs) 11:17, 20 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

So the article does contain some truth on OCCRP regarding the Peevski case and so on, but all that about other media attacking them because of it, is purely made up... by themselves — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brigadabg (talkcontribs) 11:19, 20 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

just take a look with a quick google search and you will see that basically all the Bulgarian media is critisizing Peevski and Boiko, so it's not related, the attacks on Bivol stems from their tainted articles. https://www.google.bg/search?source=hp&ei=YrwSWtT9IqHF6QTwwqmIDg&q=%D0%BF%D0%B5%D0%B5%D0%B2%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B8&oq=%D0%BF%D0%B5%D0%B5%D0%B2%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B8&gs_l=psy-ab.3...2635.4377.0.5070.10.7.0.0.0.0.254.590.1j2j1.4.0....0...1.1.64.psy-ab..6.4.589.0..0j35i39k1j0i131k1j0i10k1.0.lytE9ItOxm0 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brigadabg (talkcontribs) 11:30, 20 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

They even lost a reward they had received for great journalism, after they found out that the journalism was mixed with made up stuff http://www.bitelevision.com/asen-jordanov-ot-bivola-za-otnetata-im-nagrada-peevski-go-nyama-no-peevshtinata-e-zhiva/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brigadabg (talkcontribs) 11:40, 20 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Really? Doesn't Bulgaria have a Premier now? Jingiby (talk) 18:47, 17 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
No, Bulgaria has, it is him, but I found out that even though he resigned, he is still PM until the Assembly picks a new one. Should've checked.

Former Prime Minister of Bulgaria Boyko Borissov was detained during a police operation, the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) reported late on Thursday, citing sources from law enforcement. The arrests were said to be related to reports, claiming that European prosecutors are investigating more than 120 cases of misuse of European funds in Bulgaria. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 164.82.30.35 (talk) 04:27, 18 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

2022 arrest

edit

I observe his arrest in 2022 is covered in the article lead briefly. It feels like that is something that should be in the article body too. Sovietblobfish (talk) 08:33, 3 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
