Disease?

edit

Is it really a disease? Yes, it is abnormal, like Cindy Crawford's mole on her lip, but it doesn't cause discomfort or dysfunction. My wife has two such thumbs and my son has one. Calling it a disease instead of genetics is unnecessarily making people with such traits feel ostracized. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.181.174.148 (talk) 14:56, 4 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

User:Asams10: can we get some pictures here? DAMurphy 23:07, 7 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I didn't add the names, however a google search yielded clear enough pictures for my liking. It's not up to me to add the references, though, but they are verifiable and will stay. --Asams10 23:11, 7 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
WP:V I formally challenge verifiability of "Famous People with Clubbed Thumb" section. I have removed the section because it could be deemed defamatory to a live person. Do not re-insert the section until you provide links to a credible reference that proves that either [removed: BLP violation] or [removed: BLP violation] (or any other live person you add) has clubbed thumb(s).
WP:V - I cannot adequately verify that [removed: BLP violation] has clubbed thumb(s) from this photo. [removed: BLP violation] Kgrr (talk) 08:25, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Really? REALLY? You're saying that you need better proof than clear and unambiguous pictures? Sheez, it's denial. Can you verify she is a female from these pictures? Look at that right thumb! --Asams10 (talk) 13:54, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, since you failed to respond, your opinion is unique and not enough to counter the pictures that obviously show clubbed thumbs. You're WAY out in left field in your interpretation and unless you can prove that they're doctored, I'm putting them back. --Nukes4Tots (talk) 12:04, 18 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Why is Kgrr such a thumbphobe. Why would you even suggest pointing out someone's clubbed thumb could be considered defamatory and why only live people? You must also edit sites about albinos and midgets. Without going to far out on a limb, it is safe to say [removed: BLP violation] is considered very attractive with or without thumbs. Does she have toes? 128.12.170.154 (talk) 20:42, 15 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
this is original research and has been deleted. A pic is not a third party reliable resource. A news article is- so if you find one of those, then add it Ginger.iphone (talk) 08:00, 17 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, you're saying this a year too late. It's the status quo, first, and if you can't tell these people have clubbed thumbs from the photos, can you tell they are human? Are you blind? --Nukes4Tots (talk) 08:02, 17 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
attacking the disabled and claiming status quo is hardly a defence against original research claims. Get outta here with that nonsense
Disabled?! Disabled? Who, tell me, is disabled? Who? Please, follow through with this logic. I wanna hear you say who is disabled. C'mon... show your true colors. Watch it with your hate speech.--Nukes4Tots (talk) 08:13, 17 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
YOU asked me if I'm blind which is making fun of those with vision impairment. Back off with your insults IMMEDIATELY
If you can look at a picture and not discern that the person is a male or a female, it would be relevant to this argument. I really find it specioius that you'd back down and say you weren't insulting those with clubbed thumbs by calling it a disability. Who insulted you and how? Back off of your hatred of people with clubbed-thumb. --Nukes4Tots (talk) 20:39, 17 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Royal Trait?

edit

I cannot find a credible reference (other than mirrored copies of this article) that proves a connection between Brachydactyly and royalty. The reference given for the whole article "Abnormal Skeletal Phenotypes: From simple to complex diagnoses" can be searched, but does not turn up with the term "Royalty", "King" or "Queen". I have marked the appropriate items with fact tags.

However, another congenital anomaly, Polydactyly, seems to be related to royalty: "Polydactyly is the most common congenital anomaly of the upper limb. In England, it was believed to relate to royalty."D Glynn Bolitho (2006). "Hand, Congenital Hand Deformities". Kgrr (talk) 07:11, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

More proof of [removed: BLP violation] clubbed thumb can be found in the movie Transformers. In one scene in the big fight towards the end of the film a close up of [removed: BLP violation] thumb clearly shows a clubbed thumb. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.47.223.8 (talk) 12:42, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
