Thoughts
editThis article needs some work. I note for instance that it states that Leavitt knew Jane Stanford quite well but implies this was after the 1906 quake. A bit tricky considering she died in 1905. The section on Fageol is confusing and possibly contains a typo. Was he involved with [[Fageol}Fageol Motors]]? Also surely someone knows when he died.--Erp (talk) 04:16, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- Rev. Leavitt did know Jane Stanford well. This invitation, postmarked 1902, was her invitation to him to attend and speak at the dedication of the chapel at the Leland Stanford Jr. University on January 25, 1903.[1] I'll have a look at the wording in the piece tomorrow to make sure that it indicates their friendship came before 1906. (Rev. Leavitt's immediate predecessor as pastor of the First Unitarian Church was Rev. Dr. Horatio Stebbins, one of the original trustees of Stanford.) As far as the Fageol reference, that seems to have been inserted since I last looked, and I'll sort that out also. So far Leavitt's death cannot be verified, though there are quite a number of references online about him. (Neither Harvard College nor Harvard Divinity School seem to have his death date.) He likely died at his home, called Shine Ranch, in Woodside, California. Regards, MarmadukePercy (talk) 05:11, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
