- I propose to take on this review and will make a first reading of the article in the next couple of days. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:44, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
First reading
edit- "The land and Brainard Homestead for which comprises the Brainard Homestead State Park has begins in 1842 ..." - needs attention.
- Lol... Fixed. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 13:32, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
- "... William Brainerd, one of the Selden and Harriet's sons have life use of the property." - I think the "the" should be omitted.
- Was Geraldine W. Hayden a daughter of the couple?
- I dug up a reference in a report that lists her as willing it as a memorial to her grand father, but records indicate she was the daughter of George W. Hayden and Emma I. (Brainard) Hayden. Her mother, Emma, lineage is indeed Selden Tyler Brainard and Harriet Brainard, but no reliable source other than Ancestry.com and Find a Grave listings. Clearly inferred from the sources, I believe that she acquired the property around 1917 from her mother, assuming George W. Hayden died first, but alas... records! - "Previously at an unspecified time, two fields on the farm were once leased to Mortimer Gelston, but currently the fields surrounding or on the Brainard Homestead State Park are being actively farmed." - Were the fields not actively farmed when Mortimer Gelston leased them?
- I'm a bit confused. The article Homestead (buildings) states that "A homestead consists of a dwelling, often a farm house together with other buildings and associated land." So what buildings, if any, remain on this land?
- None. The property is basically a walk-in park that serves as a memorial, the buildings were probably cleared soon after the death of the uncle in 1936. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 13:32, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
- "However, these uses have been subject to complaints by sources." - What do you mean by "sources"?
- Rather disputed, but I tried to correct it. The field is actively being farmed so they cannot be used for sports. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 13:32, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
- "... this account is marred due to other sources." - ditto.
- See above. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 13:32, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
- The infobox mentions an area of 25 acres. This information should be added to the lead and main text.
- Was already present in the main text, added to lead. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 13:32, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
- That's all for now. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:29, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
- I'd hate to jump into the Hayden record matter with nothing "Reliable" so I'll leave it to you since even though I know... its not really able to be done without pulling up actual death records and such. Details like this tend not to be reported as relevant for the park history - I used a Report to the Governor to fill in a few gaps that I found though. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 13:32, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
- The matter is not important, I just thought it would be an interesting detail if it was known. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:16, 30 November 2014 (UTC)

GA criteria
edit- The article is well written and complies with MOS guidelines on prose and grammar, structure and layout.
- The article uses several reliable sources, and makes frequent citations to them. I do not believe it contains original research.
- The article covers the main aspects of the subject and remains focussed.
- The article is neutral.
- The article is stable.
- It would be nice to have an image. Is one available? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:54, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
- @Cwmhiraeth: I could not find any acceptable images to use since I cannot claim fair use images for public parks/buildings. Also, since it is a bunch of trees and woods, I doubt there is anything of much interest for people to photograph. If I make it to the site I'll take some pictures to add. Though I am quite far away from it. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 06:12, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
- Well, never mind. Here in the UK we have Geograph Britain and Ireland which is very useful.
