Reviewing for the March 2021 backlog drive. This one has been sitting for quite a while, and I'm happy to help it finally get to GA! Any section marked with a Working tag means that I haven't finished combing through it, but feel free to start making edits as soon as you see them! Kncny11 (shoot) 17:47, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

Early life
edit- "when Brandon was three months old" needs a citation
- "While visiting his sets Brandon became interested in acting" → "Brandon becaem interested in acting while visiting his father's movie sets."
- On that topic, the way information is presented is jumbled: it'd make more sense to say they moved to LA and then traveled between Hong Kong and the US, then get into his father's career.
- "Lee's father passed suddenly in 1973, with a legacy making him an icon of martial arts and cinema." → "Bruce Lee died suddenly on July 20, 1973, at the age of 32" with a citation for the date.
- "9" → "nine" per MOS:NUMBERS.
- "In his teens" is ambiguous whether Imada or Lee is in his teens.
- Comma after "According to Imada"
- WL soccer to association football
- WL stunt coordinator
- Comma after "four months prior to his graduation"
- Comma after "That year"
- Capitalize Miraleste High School
- There's a lot of "After" and "Following this" in this section and not a lot of dates.
- Capitalize Full Fed Beast
1985 to 1990
edit- The People article mentions that he and his mother lived in Seattle and Rolling Hills. Feel like that should merit a mention in "Early life".
- Comma after "On set"
- No need to re-link Imada, or refer to him by his full name
- Technically he didn't "meet" Imada
- Penultimate sentence of the first paragraph ("Imada said that...") is a hell of a run-on.
- AllMovie isn't the best citation for anything outside of film reviews.
- One-off sentence about Yee Chuan Tao should be moved to martial arts section
Working
1991-1993
edit- That third paragraph is massive and definitely needs to be split.

Martial arts and philosophy
edit- Inosanto and Imada were already introduced, do not need to be re-linked.
- On that topic, everything about the Kali Institute was already mentioned in the early life section.
- "Lee said that with his training Arnis with Inosanto he specialized in both Kali and Escrima and lasted three to four years." I cannot parse out what this sentence is supposed to be saying.

Personal life
edit- Republic World is under the Republic TV banner, which is not considered a reliable source.
- "who was the son of"
- "Ho Kom Tong" → "Ho Kom-tong" (per the Vice citation)
- "Charles
HenryMaurice Bosman" - Bleeding Cool is also not a reliable source. Would prefer if you linked the original Yahoo! Movies interview here
- [108] never specifies the exact date that Lee and Hutton planned to marry.
Filmography
edit- At first glance this looks fine.
Awards and nominations
edit- Citation needed on his 1995 MTV Movie Award nomination
References
edit- Make sure references are archived wherever possible using the tool.
- As was mentioned in the first GA review, anything accessed via Newspapers.com needs to state that, not just "Newspapers".
- Citations to The New York Times should be marked with "|url-access=limited"
- [101] (Washington Post) needs an access date.
- There are references that are given in the "Works cited" and still receive multiple non-{{sfn}} citations in the footnotes.

General comments
edit- Edit history is mostly stable. Some vandalism, but no persistent edit warring.
- Photos are properly cited and relevant.
- Earwig copyvio score is a little high, but that seems to be due to direct quotes.
Final comments and verdict
editThank you for your patience. However, it became clear partway through reviewing this article that I am going to have to ✗ Fail it, predominantly for reason number five cited here: A reviewer who has not previously reviewed the article determines that any issues from previous GA nominations have not been adequately considered. Daniel Case previously failed the article on the basis of the issues in the footnotes, listing eight main methods of improvement. Out of those:
- The date formatting is still inconsistent, with some listed as MDY and some in ISO 8601. Some of them, like [12], are inconsistent even within the footnote itself.
- Many footnotes are still incomplete, with a large chunk not having an access date.
- The Google Books URL issue has not been addressed at all.
- Citations of the same type of source remain inconsistent.
- the "via Newspapers" still has not been addressed.
- [44] and [15] have MOS:CAPS issues.
- There are still duplicate entries between the footnotes and works cited without the appropriate WP:CITESHORT formatting.
Apart from that, there's inconsistency as to whether you're linking the name of the paper every time it appears or only once (The New York Times gets a footnote WL every time, but Entertainment Weekly and Los Angeles Times do not).
Beyond that, there are copious amounts of issues with citations not matching up to the information within, as well as prose issues (including some sentences that are difficult to decipher), information repeated across disparate sections (such as information in the early life being repeated in the martial arts section), and that one doorstopper of a paragraph right in the middle of the article.
You've clearly done a lot of researching to Brandon Lee's life and death, and that should be commended. However, these stylistic issues are pervasive to the article, and quite substantial. I would recommend going to the WP:GOCE, who can do a copy-edit. Make a request, and mention that multiple GAN reviewers have had issues with the citation style, so they know to focus on that. Once the copy-edit is done, you can bring the article back to GAN. Kncny11 (shoot) 18:46, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
