Very nice article. Suggest possibly having more clear sections. Now it is
1 Importance of coal breaking
2 Use of breaker boys
3 Union activities
4 References
5 External links
Consider:
1 Importance of coal breaking
2 Use of breaker boys (mainly about job description)
3 Un-named section about public condemnation...
3 Union activities (minor rewrite or expansion or see if references say these activities helped end the line of work? Or maybe keep it?)
4 References
5 External links
Although it is not customary to do so, if there is a request to do so, I could do minor editing and pass it as a GA. Suomi Finland 2009 (talk) 22:14, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
- Since there hasn't been editing on it and you say it's near GA status, you can make the tweaks yourself if it's all it needs. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 21:36, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
GA granted. Since I am rather new to creating GA (have done it) and reviewing it, others who disagree, please let me know if you disagree. I am open to learning. Suomi Finland 2009 (talk) 18:41, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
Expansion of article
editI feel this article would work better as one that covers all employees working at coal breakers, with a subsection on the use of child labour. --Eldomtom2 (talk) 19:31, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
Breaker Boys
editBreaker boys still worked in mines around Pottsville PA into the 1930’s. Both my father and uncle were working as breaker boys when they were 9 and 10 years old in 1933. They both went into the mines full-time by age 12 and 13. So I disagree with the statement that this practice ended in the 1920’s. 108.51.191.112 (talk) 03:39, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
