editSo this guy gets to make a personal advertisement? And this serves the Wiki Mission how?
- The article was not begun by Mr Currin, and a cursory reading indicates that he meets our notability criteria for his legal activities in multiple nations. DS (talk) 14:52, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Trivia: The article says “He has worked in Sri Lanka, Rwanda and the Middle East on political transformation.” But the only “advertisement” apart from this in English is in Euskara-Basque Wikipedia. Even he is not mentioned in Spanish Wikipedia. I’m Basque and I can assure you Brian Currin is only appreciated in Basque-separatist and/or pro ETA media. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.30.95.7 (talk) 09:56, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
"I can assure you Brian Currin is only appreciated in Basque-separatist and/or pro ETA media". That isn't accurate. He is appreciated in all groups that want to restore the peace, spanish, basque, pro-independence or unionist. The pro-war spanish media "El Mundo", "El Correo"... want to make people believe that he is pro-independence or something. --Gogubetea1515 (talk) 13:11, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
I think that this article has a lack of accuracy because reading it you get the idea that he is actively collaborating in the resolution of the basque conflic and this is far from the reality. He just collaborate with one part that is the ETA side, the side that has called for his help. It is not recognize as an interlocutor by any government neither the spanish nor the french, and their propositions are far from being neutral, showing his lack of knowledge about the conflict and reflecting who is paying him and who is the only one recognizing hs labour. With respect to the opinion above I have to say that this is the typical comentary of the pro-ETA side in order to support him, but it is actually false. I collaborate very actively with groups that doesn't belong to the ETA sphere of influence and that have being looking for the peace in the Basque Country for years and I can assure that anyone of them recognizes him as an intermediator. The same can be apply to the two unionist parties the PP and the PSOE that ignore the petitions of this person due to the lack of neutrality and knowledge about the conflict. It would be good to remember that this is not a conflict of two sides fighting that needs an intermediator to be solve. This is just a problem with a terrorist group killing people that don't think as them and the unique solution is the cease of their activity and their reconvertion. In the Basque Country nowadays their ideas can be defend freely without killing nowbody, so there is no need of Currins... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.57.75.140 (talk) 11:33, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Violations of Biographies of living persons removed
editI have removed several attempts to violate Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons, mainly the attempt to add the claim that "His activity is mainly ignored or critisaized by all the media, organizations and political parties" sourced by this. While Google Translate may provide somewhat interesting translations at times, I can see nothing in there that supports the assertion particularly the use of "all" to cover such a wide range of organisations, when the article only refers to the People's Party. As such, it is a clear policy violation. O Fenian (talk) 09:35, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
It's funny how you have been prosecuiting my editions, undoing them, asking me to provide sources and while I provide them eraising them. I think that it's unfair the censure that you are trying to do based on a very strict and partial interpretation of Wikipedia's rule. At first you say that it was my own opinion, then I prove it and you erase all the parts that didn't have any specific sorce while the rest of the text had just anly one. I provide you proves for the rest of my edition and you continued erasing it. I live in the basque country and I know the situation very well, I can provide you all the sources you want to prove the sentence that you heve just written partially: "His activity is mainly ignored or critisaized by all the media, organizations and political parties that don't belong to the ETA sphere", but I think that putting so many links in three lines and just one in the rest would be very imbalance. But the problem is not a source problem, the issue is that as your nick reveals "O Fenian" you have a clear political view and you have a certain opinion about this person, so you apply a censure to any edition that doesn't support him. 83.57.75.140 (talk) 10:57, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
SOME OTHER COMMENTS:
1) Basque are Spanish, then there is no need to make the difference in between "Basques" and "Spanish". 2) There is not a Basque Separatist Organization, ETA is a terrorist organization defined like this by all international institutions, and it is not the same "separatist" than "terrorist" with more than 1.000 murdered innocents in it curriculum. 3) Mr. Currin has appeared only few times in the media, always to be rejected by all the democratic political parties, included the Basque Nationalist Party. 4) Spain, and France, do not need any international expert group to verify if ETA has finished is dirty job. The Spanish Guardia Civil and Policía Nacional, as well as the French Gendarmerie and Police Nationale are working together to do so, but the first step must be done from ETA to finish it activities of terror and to give to the State all their guns. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.137.129.152 (talk) 20:33, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
Involvement on the Basque Country
editSeen the uproar Mr Currin's involvement in the Basque Country has caused I'll edit this part as a section I'll use as main sources an Interview and the site of the International Contact Group he works with.
I'll be glad if we could discuss it before entering an editing contest. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Orhipean (talk • contribs) 10:29, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
