Brian Farran "defrocked" the priest of the Terrigal parish whilst he was Anglican bishop of Newcastle, which was met by complaints from the parishioners. This was shortly before this bishop "quit", and so he hasn't had to deal with the aftermath - Greg Thompson has had to. Anyway, the reports on the Sydney Morning Herald (http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/stolen-diaries-triggered-priests-undoing-20100521-w1r1.html) state "The congregation virtually took over and tore the bishop (Brian Farran) apart - EVERYONE was in favour of John (the defrocked priest". This issue has become so problematic it has gone all the way up to the SUPREME Court - which is interesting given Farran's apparent HYPOCRITICAL and arrogant criticism of other churches in Newcastle "not following the bible", whilst 1 Corinthians 6:1 states "How DARE you file a lawsuit and ask a SECULAR court to decide the matter instead of taking it to other believers!"

If only that were the problem (i.e. Arguing Denial of "natural justice" at the Supreme court), the SMH also states that it was an "undisputed fact" the church relied on his "PERSONAL JOURNALS" against him. These journals were apparently STOLEN from his personal computer by the Newcastle diocese, although the diocese states that it "stands by its use of the diaries"

Then followed were reports (http://www.theherald.com.au/story/1185242/bishop-considers-avo-against-ex-priest/) that Farran was going to take an "AVO" out against Farran

Other legal cases

Apart from the dealings with the courts in the Gumbley case, Farran also seems to have a likings towards the courts, as indicated by the case of Sturt and Lawrence vs Farran (https://wiki.qut.edu.au/display/CPNS/Sturt+and+Lawrence+v+Right+Reverend+Dr+Brian+Farran,+Bishop+of+Newcastle)

Complaints against other Anglicans regarding his non-conservativeness

Farran has gone to publicly insult other Anglicans, who have written back public lettters, such as this one (http://www.lionelwindsor.net/bibleresources/topical/Open_Letter_to_Brian_Farran_re_GAFCON.htm), where he made a public statement CRITICAL of Peter Jensen, and used "pejorative" (meaning rude words, for example the word "f***" is considered "pejorative"). In short, his statements are highly controversial as they insult Conservatives

Accusations of MISCONDUCT

In the Church of England Newspaper ((http://geoconger.wordpress.com/2011/05/20/newcastle-bishop-accused-of-misconduct-the-church-of-england-newspaper-may-19-2011/) ) it was noted that there have been (at least) NINE complaints against him filed with the General Synod in Sydney

Starting a WAR against Pentecostals, especially Hillsong (not really unexpected...)

In what is already famous, he has joined the supposed "WAR" against the Pentecostals, including trying to stop a JOINT service between the Catholic and Anglican Churches (http://www.theherald.com.au/story/493283/vatican-halts-bishops-joint-church-service/) on the grounds that it was "charismatic"... (i.e. reminscent of Hillsong)

In this example, without even having visited the church, and just on "gossip" that a new church was starting, he becomes the protagonist in an article written by Paul Maguire (http://www.theherald.com.au/story/479922/holy-row-on-new-church/) where he states this new church "lacked theological depth and pandered to consumerism". This is a guy who is evidently narcissistic, taking other Christians to court, an obvious megalomaniac in his use of lawyers to "defend" himself, who seems to take pride in causing pain to other Christians who he has NO RELATIONSHIP whatsoever (the Anglicans and Pentecostals are worlds apart - yet he is the primary REASON why this story is being written by Maguire). Anyway, Farran made the comments only after its first service, which was reported to contain "sound and lighting effects, video footage of global events, singing and rock band". From a theological standpoint, it is evident that this guy is buying into a sort of Gnostic heresy, which is a HERESY where they believed the less worldly you are the more Godly you are, and the more worldy you are the less Godly you are, and hence believed Jesus was not man at all - because he was God (in fact, the CORRECT theology is he was fully God and fully man). Anyway, this bloke seems to think that "good music" equates un-Godliness... and evidently his church's music (bad music) equates Godliness.

In response, Ps Kirk McAtear said he "did not want to engage in a public dispute" with Farran. Farran nonetheless continues his tirade, stating "I see it like extending the supermarket". "It seems strange to set up another one at a time when churches are working towards UNITY". It's interesting how hypocritical he is, given he states he wants "unity" in mouth - but his actions don't reflect it at all! And of course with his generalized criticism of Pentecostalism, you can't forget the #1 Sydney Anglicans line "There is more to the Christian faith than blessing material prosperity" - even though he had never been to Ps McAtear's church service, nor EVER heard him preached 110.33.120.196 (talk) 07:45, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
