Actual first settler and recognized founder

edit

Actually, my gggg grandfather, Lt. Benjamin Emmons was the first settler in 1766-1769 in Bridgewater. The greater area, including Bristol, was named New Chester at that time. He appears on the 1790-1810 Bridgewater censuses. The large house he built in 1788 still stands, as the Old Homestead restaurant. He has been recognized as the founder of Bristol. glennlane1@aol.com. 2602:304:CDA6:51B0:F0C8:FDF9:154C:9D87 (talk) 03:30, 9 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
