Hello - Teammazur would like to submit a replacement for the current "Kaplan College" entry. Per conversations in 2007 about submitting our updates through the talk page, I've pasted our recommendation below. This entry is based entirely on fact and is up-to-date. Thank you.

False Claims Act Lawsuit

A few IP editors have tried removing this section. The section is sourced, but I think this issue receives undue weight and ought to be trimmed down. P. D. Cook ^{Talk to me!} 19:21, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

I'd like to propose two changes to this page. (FYI, I work for Kaplan, Inc.) The first edit is to reflect the change of the name of the company that owns Kaplan. The Washington Post Company has been renamed Graham Holdings Company. (See http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/18/washington-post-renamed-change-name-graham-holdings_n_4295730.html) Second, each of the three False Claims suits (which were combined into one qui tam suit) have been dismissed as of July (see http://www.law360.com/articles/457625/kaplan-escapes-ex-employee-s-fca-suit). Update Ownership After ECA Acquisition

Hello, I'd like to propose changes based on Kaplan College's recent acquisition by Education Corporation of America (ECA). The press release relating to the acquisition is cited below. I currently work for ECA and was formerly (before the acquisition) an employee of Kaplan.

I have noticed some other inaccuracies in the article related to the history of Kaplan College (some of the history relates to Kaplan University only), which I will submit as a separate request.

LEAD/INTRO

Replace "is a subsidiary of Kaplan, Inc. and Kaplan Higher Education.[1]" with "is owned and operated by Education Corporation of America."

ADD NEW SECTION HEADER

After the lead/intro, suggest adding the ==History== header.

At the end of this section (before the references), suggest adding "Before being acquired by Education Corporation of America (ECA) in September 2015, Kaplan College was part of Kaplan Higher Education, a subsidiary of Kaplan, Inc."

Proposed Updates for Accuracy

For the sake of transparency, I am currently an employee of Education Corporation of America, which recently purchased Kaplan College. Previously (prior to the acquisition), I was employed by Kaplan Higher Education to work on content for Kaplan College. Kaplan University and Kaplan College were both part of Kaplan Higher Education, but until 2014, they operated as separate divisions. Much of the current content in this article refers to Kaplan University rather than Kaplan College. An explanation of edits appears below, followed by a proposed revised version of the page.

REDIRECT QUEST COLLEGE The redirect should be removed from this page. Quest College should redirect to Quest Education Corporation. As relates to Kaplan, Quest College was not an actual name (only Quest Education Corporation was). Quest did briefly become Kaplan College in 2000, but became Kaplan Higher Education in 2002 (both Kaplan College and Kaplan University fell under the Kaplan Higher Education umbrella). I think it's more accurate to redirect to the Quest Education Corporation page.

INFO BOX I removed all references to Kaplan or Graham Holdings Company and replaced with information for Education Corporation of America, which now owns Kaplan College. I've updated the campus locations to reflect only open Kaplan College locations (the other states listed were for Kaplan University or have since closed; see https://www.kaplancollege.com/locations/). The Kaplan College website is www.kaplancollege.com, not kaplancollege.edu (kaplancollege.edu is a redirect to www.kaplancollege.com), so this was also corrected.

REMOVAL OF AIC, HAMILTON, Kaplan College IN MD American Institute of Commerce, Education Medical Inc., Quest, Hamilton College, and "Kaplan College in Maryland" all refer to Kaplan University campuses and assets, not to any of the existing Kaplan College locations (see below for explanations and sources; see also http://www.kaplanuniversity.edu/locations.aspx).

REMOVAL OF HESSER COLLEGE Hesser College has always been a separate college from Kaplan College, though it too was under the Kaplan Higher Education umbrella. Hesser College was renamed Mount Washington College in 2013 and is now closing (see Mount Washington College and http://www.mountwashington.edu/history.aspx).

GRAHAM HOLDINGS Removed this reference as it sounds as if Kaplan was a subsidiary of Graham Holdings in 2000. In 2000, Kaplan, Inc., was a subsidiary of The Washington Post Co. The Washington Post Co. was renamed Graham Holdings Co. in 2013 (source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graham_Holdings_Company#cite_note-5).

CEI College The reference to CEI is accurate for Kaplan College, but the reference to 64 campuses is for all of Kaplan Higher Education, not just Kaplan College. If reading the current source, "Kaplan owns 64 campuses" refers to Kaplan, Inc., (of which Kaplan Higher Education is a subsidiary) rather than just Kaplan College.
