Referencing

This article desperately needs references from reliable sources, especially anything that would establish the club's notability. Jezhotwells (talk) 19:50, 24 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Objection to proposed deletion of the Brislington F.C. page

edit

Brislington F.C. is not an amateur club - they are semi-professional non league club playing in the Premier Division of the Western League. I find it very difficult to establish why the page should be suggested for deletion.

Unreliable source

edit

I tagged {http://www.fchd.btinternet.co.uk} as an unreliable source as it is a personal home page provided by an ISP, btinternet. Jezhotwells (talk) 02:29, 10 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

The bulk of this article is a close paraphrase or in some cases a straight cut and paste from this document on the Toolstation Western League website, authored by JackRog, presumably Jack Rogers, the club Programme and Website Manager.

Material removed as a clear cut and paste from http://www.toolstationleague.com/brislington/history.doc and following receipt of this email from the company secretary of the league.

Mr Mcneill

The following is the response from our webmaster.

KEN CLARKE

Ken,

The history of a club is on Wikipedia and is placed there by the club. It therefore appears that the copyright lies with the club itself.

Wikipedia is showing an infringement notice on the Brislington page that points to the fact that the content is copied from the Brislington website.

If someone has copied it from our website, then Wikipedia would be in breach of copyright.

However, what is on Wikipedia is out of date. The History on our website is fairly extensive (as supplied by the club) whereas the Wikipedia reference is minimal and out of date.

Prior content in this article duplicated one or more previously published sources. The material was copied from: http://www.toolstationleague.com/brislington/history.doc (please see above for details). Copied or closely paraphrased material has been rewritten or removed and must not be restored, unless it is duly released under a compatible license. (For more information, please see "using copyrighted works from others" if you are not the copyright holder of this material, or "donating copyrighted materials" if you are.)

For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or published material; such additions will be deleted. Contributors may use copyrighted publications as a source of information, and, if allowed under fair use, may copy sentences and phrases, provided they are included in quotation marks and referenced properly. The material may also be rewritten, providing it does not infringe on the copyright of the original or plagiarize from that source. Therefore, such paraphrased portions must provide their source. Note: the content added by an IP with this edit on 9 October 2011 is essentially identical to that added by a similar IP with this edit on 27 October 2008 and later removed by Jezhotwells as a copyvio of this document, which is no longer accessible. Most of the content of this pdf is also identical (note the mistakes: "The 1970’s saw the side …", "2005/2006 saw many changes Chairman Mike Richardson has left …", common to all three versions), but that document is dated 28 July 2014, so was not the immediate source for the copyvio here. Conflict of interest

edit

Some editors here appear to have a close personal or professional connection to the club, and thus to have a conflict of interest. Conflict-of-interest editors are strongly discouraged from editing the article directly, but are always welcome to propose changes on the talk page (i.e., here). You can attract the attention of other editors by putting {{request edit}} (exactly so, with the curly parentheses) at the beginning of your request, or by clicking the link on the lowest yellow notice above. Requests that are not supported by independent reliable sources are unlikely to be accepted.

Please also note that our Terms of Use state that "you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation." An editor who contributes as part of his or her paid employment is required to disclose that fact. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:19, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for cleaning this up. I've removed the refimprove & COI banners as all the material added by that contributor have been removed.— Rod talk 19:46, 19 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
