Legality
editArticle says tax must be paid on each transaction. This implies an additional tax. However, if you read the FAQ's on the Bristol £ website, this is not the case. VAT is to be paid on transactions, which is normal. Bristol Credit Union charge a small percentage for electronic transcations and to change £B back into GBP. 87.112.83.94 (talk) 12:40, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
- Judging by the FAQ on the website, I can't see anywhere that says additional tax needs to be paid. The £B seem to act like a voucher, backed by a £ deposited at BCU. I've amended the section, well, actually completely rewritten it! Sionk (talk) 10:03, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
Images
editI want images, and lots of them!!! Now, now, now! Notes! Let's see the notes!!!! Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:23, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
- Duplicated comment at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Bristol#Bristol Pound images. In any case (and as Rodw said there), we can't upload free images. Any such images would be subject to WP:NFCC and should be located in Category:Non-free images of currency. -- Trevj (talk) 11:06, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
- The designs are illustrated in various news articles online - for example [1]. Sionk (talk) 11:16, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
- Done I've also uploaded a higher quality image of the logo. -- Trevj (talk) 12:08, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

- Yay! Thanks for swapping in the better logo and for the boss paper notes images. FYI: There's a red tag at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Specimen_Bristol_Pound.jpg Not sure why. These are public domain because they're currency right? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:28, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Bristol
editMy post here: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Bristol#Bristol Pound Images was not a discussion. It was a request, and a reasonable place to post such a request. Objecting to it, and arbitrarily archiving it seemed very bureaucratic and very 27B stroke 6ish. It's not like it's a hugely busy page. So, what's the harm? If you're a stickler for policy, rules, guidelines, etc, then please add a source to the image you uploaded File:Specimen Bristol Pound.jpg Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:47, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
- With reference to WP:CONLIMITED, I've replied at WT:BRISTOL. As for the source, it was initially included but I need to tidy the FUR template usage. I'll do so when I have time but not to worry, we still have 6 days. Cheers. -- Trevj (talk) 07:40, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
Criticism
editIs there scope for a criticism section in this article? There are people who have disagreed on various grounds with the Bristol Pound and published/discussed those views. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.195.239.197 (talk) 23:28, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
'The virtuous circle' section
editThe section called 'The virtuous circle' does not mention the term 'virtuous circle'. It sounds non neutral, perhaps a better title would be 'circulation' or 'benefits'.Jonpatterns (talk) 14:54, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
- True. I'd go as far as to say most of that section isn't about the Bristol Pound, but about local currencies in general. The salient bits could probably be combined into the "Usage" section. Sionk (talk) 18:08, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
Agreed, I changed it to the 'Local Multiplier Effect' which is more adequate and corresponds better to the description Marie Ingrid Herman — Preceding undated comment added 11:16, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
Move Request
editTo reflect Wikipedia's style guide for the names of currency units this article ought to be moved to "Bristol pound", without the capitalisation. TheCurrencyGuy (talk) 21:45, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
Needs a section on its cancellation
editThere's hardly anything in this article about how and why it failed and was shut down. 86.8.114.154 (talk) 16:34, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
