changed 615 hp to 800 hp, 615 hp was the number for the preceding U-class, the V-class had improved diesel engines.

According to Conways(1922-46) half the subs were built on the Tyne, not all at Barrow so have removed the Barrow built ships cat. Galloglass 19:20, 2 June 2007 (UTC). Absolutely true. All the eight vessels built under the 1941 Programme were built at Barrow, but Vivid, Voracious, Vulpine and Varne of the next batch were built at Walker, as were Virulent and Volatile of that batch - and every vessel listed subsequently in the article (which I've now re-sequenced into programme order).
