Question
edit"After the government assumed responsibility for education" - well, well, when how and why? It's what I came to this page looking for. Where is this information; it had its political contentions and results. Put it on this page please! 172.110.60.4 (talk) 14:42, 14 June 2017 (UTC)
Updating the article
editHi Kanguole, thank you for your updates. I have one reservation: I think In 1870, the state assumed responsibility for elementary education. British and National schools were transferred to local school boards.
is misleading as National school (England and Wales) suggests that National schools did not transfer immediately. Unfortunately the relevant paragraphs are unreferenced. TSventon (talk) 15:10, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
- I think you're right about National schools. I'll remove that and see if I can find a ref. Kanguole 15:34, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
