- Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bro Myrddin → Bro Myrddin Welsh Comprehensive School — per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English): "Use the most commonly used English version of the name of the subject as the title of the article..." Xn4 (talk) 05:35, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me. LordAmeth (talk) 00:13, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- Support. It what the school's website says too (here). — AjaxSmack 02:46, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with thee above but Bro Myrddin Welsh Comprehensive School is a strange mixture of Welsh and English and technically not much more correct than Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bro Myrddin. Myrddin Borough Welsh Comprehensive School would I guess be the most correct term but no one would ever think to look for the article if it were called that. As an aside a quick look on Wikipedia for articles beggining with Ysgol Gyfun.. or Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg.. brings up rather alot of results. --369421 (talk) 12:21, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- The issue isn't "technical correctness". The question is about what's "the most commonly used English version of the name". I agree that 'Bro Myrddin Welsh Comprehensive School' is an odd mixture, but it's used on the school's web site, and to go for 'Myrddin Borough Welsh Comprehensive School' we'd need some evidence that it was "the most commonly used English version of the name", which I don't suppose it is. If there are other articles with names starting Ysgol Gyfun.., then it seems they are also at odds with the policy Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English). Xn4 (talk) 16:17, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Support per nom. The proposed name is the official English version of the name. A barbarism it might technically be on paper, but I'm sure "Bro Myrddin" is capable of translation, as well, and we don't have an article at City of Angels Times. Tevildo (talk) 23:45, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

editThe fact that one of the contributors to the above discussion could get away with implying that bro means "borough" does not suggest that it was conducted at a very informed level... -- Picapica (talk)
